How do we stop being so predictable?

OP does not understand the offense. If the cornerbacks are close enough to the LOS to jump a route we will be throwing the ball down field.

Our offense makes the defense declare what they're going to do, simplifies our reads, and gives our guys a numbers advantage.

We have to start completling the intermediate throws. I heard a stat that we have only completed 2 passes for more than 20 yards. If teams don't think they have to guard that portion of the field, they will cheat up and start loading the box. Fortunately against UVA and Austin Peay we could be predictable and still run down their throats. Against the better teams, it will be much harder. So either Joe has to find a way to complete those passes or he will be replaced eventually. I hope for the best for him, but at the same time don't want us to run our team into the ground doing the same 3 plays..

Uh, intermediate passes are less than 20 yards.

The most predictable thing is people posting overreacting post. Heupel’s offenses aren’t predictable. Vanilla game plans are often seen playing weaker opponents, but if catches had been made nothing would be being said about a predictable offense. Heupel and Tennessee will show you Saturday! GBO! Get your Big Orange Popcorn ready!!!!

Wait minute! You mean to tell me that every quick throw isn’t a bubble screen and all runs aren’t the same play??

The defense invited the bubble screens and they were not inviting deep throws. So, Heup took what the defense gave him. That's it IMO.

I don't understand the sense of urgency just yet, I'm not sure anyone has any reason to believe this staff doesn't know what they are doing ?!

I would like to see Milton and company dial up a long throw on the 1st play of the game (like Utah)

I definitely understand the very conservative approach to the Austin Peay game. And keeping JMilton in his comfort zone. But if we keep running those little bubble screens out to either side, it's just a matter of time until some savvy defensive player gets a pick six. I kept waiting for the long balls to fly but instead got a constant diet of short pitches into coverage, many of which went nowhere. If we are not going to take advantage of the big arm we have, why not just become a run first team? Also had the thought that maybe before each game, have Milton throw 100 or so passes to tire out his arm a little. Might keep him from overthrowing and/or throwing harder than needed to complete the pass. He seemed to have too much adrenalin going especially in the first half.

UVA and AP played deep safety’s and the corners played back to keep the very thing in front of them. This leaves the middle of field open and sometimes requires the WB to throw receivers open, at the very least to have to hit a moving receiver. Milton struggles with accuracy. It has improved some, but not a lot. Also, incompletions, penalties, and turnovers kill offensive tempo and chemistry. Milton needs to be more accurate or WRs need to do a better job of catching badly placed balls to bail him out. Ride the run game, hit screens and make the DBs move up closer to the LOS and then the deep throws will be open.

Hooker running was so key to last year's Florida game. Does anyone think Joe can replicate this?

If we are predictable and still keep putting up +450 yds a game, I will take that anyday of the week, especially with a balanced offense like ours. Teams can perdict all they want, they still have to stop it. Nobody stopped the Vols against AP, but the VOLS.

AR was UF's key to keep the game close last year. UF doesn't have that athletic talent at QB so things could get out of hand for Florida. If we can handle the Ben Hill environment then I think we can blow this game wide open with Joe having an avg. day with no turnovers. If the environment becomes a factor then I will have concerns. We have had a run of bad luck in the Swamp. The place is cursed.

We stop being predictable by running different plays... That being said, I don't care if we run the same play every down as long as we are moving the ball and scoring enough to win.
