How do you defend bruce this year?

Bruce will be at UT for years, but he needs to step it up next year. This year's team has really been a letdown.

This is just a bad year, period. They happen. But Bruce Pearl was the poster-child of overachiever his first 2 years, then he met expectations last year. This is the first year in 4 that he has failed to live up to expectations. Ultimately, he is the coach, it all falls on him. But you can't take seriously talk about canning the guy, I mean thats just plain stupid. Even with the bad year, we're relevant. And just the fact that we are calling this a bad year is funny... in the past 25 years "bad year" for Tennessee b-ball means a losing record. That's not going to happen.

The man has one bad year and people flip out. Quit acting like this is the Mecca of college basketball. Are there better coaches out there than Bruce Pearl? Without a doubt. Is there any other coach who could have ignited our program the way he has? I'm not so sure. If only we were all put on the "chopping block" every time we made a mistake at work...

we show ZERO heart. JP prince is a JOKE, bobby maze WILL not drive the lane, Chism and Williams have NO post moves for big men, and our D is HORRID. When will SOMEONE on the coaching staff take notice to atleast 1 of these problem areas.

Pearl does not need defending, he has done more for UT basketball than anyone in my lifetime. Even posting your title is a joke

Keep in mind it takes more than 3 years to build a program. Let's not let Bruce become a victim of his own success.

I think you are exactly right. I mean, I thought the defensive game plan was sound today. Limit Meeks from touching the ball and make some of those other guys beat you. Of course we weren't expecting Miller to have 17, but our half court offensive is just horrible right now, and in my opinion most of that goes once again on not having a point guard. I think Ramar Smith would have been much better this year than Bobby Maze. He certainly could defend better, and as bad as Maze is shooting, I could handle Ramar's missed freethrows.

im not saying bruce has not pu us on the map. but when is it ok to ask for more than just being a good team? im not asking for back 2 back national champs, but this season is washing out the last 3 years that we have built.

Dream on....

We were 22 in RPI going into today's game, 2 in SOS (I don't have insider access, so I can't get the update until tomorrow. Whatever the ranking, it will be tops in the conference.) We are one game back in the east, and I think that the NCAA committee is going to make every effort to put 4 and possibly 5 SEC teams in the field.

It is not meltdown-proof, but if you made out the brackets today, UT is dancing.

we still have went from preseason 8 to being shi%y. there is not 1 team in the sec from 1-10 that is better than us talent wise. NONE. some teams may have a beter 3-4 or so. but not 1-8

It would help if you would quote the poster to whom you are responding. I've read a dozen or so of your posts today, and I can't tell who you are arguing with.

That's . . . pretty much it in a nutshell.

It's that to some degree, but our juniors have sucked and are preseason all conference players. That is why we are losing, especially the close games.

Sounds like a bunch of player problems, not a coaches problem. You don't think Pearl TELLS them to fix what they are bad at? lol

Pearl deserves plenty of criticism, but with a young team, a few players much better than some we have now getting booted, and recruiting a couple of wrong players, it's to be expected.

one bad year and he's already on peoples hotseat? disappointing

It's the new age Tennessee fan. Those that claim to be huge fans, show up for the games only when we win, and just wait around to start b!tching any chance they get. It's also a bit of Fulmer's fault for creating this amongst our fan base with so many highs and lows after extreme highs for a long time.

Just because people are disappointed doesnt mean they want Bruce gone. Bruce has created great expectations that he has failed to meet this year, people are going to be disappointed does that mean they want him fired NO. Do people want to fire Stoops because he lost the NC game last year, no I but I am willing to bet that they were disappointed they did not win. There is a HUGE difference between disappointment and wanting someone fired.
