How does Kiffin to Ole Miss affect our 2020 class and recruiting?

Not sure Kiffin has instant credibility as a HC in the SEC. I don’t think he’ll be bad there at all, but he certainly still has something to prove. Until he does I can’t see him as a recruiting juggernaut squashing our chances w recruits

Guys, it doesn’t matter who gets hired where right now. Our recruiting class is already pretty much set for this cycle outside of a few major prospects that we have a good shot to land. We’ll finish around 11-12 like we did last season.

As for next cycle it won’t matter either, because these kids will see us making huge strides and pulling upsets left and right on our way to Atlanta, and we’ll be in a position to get whoever we want no matter who has offered or where they’re from. And that includes some 5 star kids from West Virginia, Alabama, California and maybe North Carolina. We’ll be top 3 in the 2021 cycle

I ran quite a few class calculator simulations... The only way we wind up in the 11-12 range is if we hit on every one of the higher rated recruits we are in on, primarily Darnell Washington. If DW signs elsewhere we will be in the 15-19 range, no shot at 11-12.

I know this. We’ll get Washington.

Worst possible situation for Tennessee. Probably doesn’t effect anything this year but he would be a nightmare for us recruiting Memphis.

Like I posted earlier Memphis only has 1 top 30 player in the 2021 class for TN prospects. This year there was about 10
They have a couple of guys that are good ball players, Pennington being one I hope we go after. Memphis hasn’t really been ranked yet either because, well 247 and rivals. But for the most part I agree the ‘21 Memphis class isn’t as strong as the ‘20.

He’ll probably get a few kids from Memphis in future years but that’s an unwinnable job he’s taking. They’re never going to be a great team just due to who they have to play ever week. Bama, Auburn, LSU, ta$&m...just not going to happen. Seems like kiffin has a tendency to take those type jobs throughout his career. I think in 3 or 4 years he’ll have a .500 record and we won’t be looking at him as any sort of a threat at all. Seems like he’d recognize at this point he’s only likely to get one more shot at a d1 school and choose one he’s likely to be successful at. Florida state makes way more sense for him. He could recruits Florida and play in a really weak conference that way
When I was there and still there are a lot of fine co eds!

If Freeze can do it. Kiffin can

I know he doesn’t have long, but we know he can recruit. Do we get worried about the Whitehaven Linebackers? Worried about Big O adding OM back into his top 3? Flip candidates, etc?

I loved us getting back into Memphis. This may affect that a bit.

i would say not much this year. next year and then on may be a challenge in Memphis with proximity of the campus. We need to start winning big and keep momentum we have in recruiting the area to minimize his impact as much as possible starting next year.

This is weird... the Ole Miss Athletic Director said "I look forward to locking arms with him to take Ole Miss football to a championship level."
So now they have to worry about Kif with their coeds as well as their AD?

Half the conference HC's will be Saban disciples. As an outsider, maybe Luke Fickel to Mizzou? Kiffin is a good recruiter, no doubt about it. Never understood the draw to Ole Miss for football players but there is....
winning cures all recruiting and if we keep improving we will be fine. Hopefully Norvell to FSU affects UF a bit like we think Lane to OM will...

Mizzou would be the last place I’d want to coach in the SEC.

Kind of a tweaner locale in terms of recruiting but they went to back to back SECC games not too long ago. They are not a hot mess like we were the last two years...

He’s always been a recruiting force wherever he’s been. I’m not worried about him as a coach. Really don’t care other than the recruit aspect but he will be a PITA for Memphis recruits. Anyone that thinks differently is kidding themselves

All I know is the big time recruits that he brought to Rocky Top were either thugs or way overrated.
