How does Meyer stepping down effect UT recruiting?

So if this sticks and Meyer does retire, it seems that Dan Mullen is the logical choice to replace him. The next question is this...does Gus Malzahn replace Mullen at Mississippi State? Seems like he couls step right in there.

I have heard that Miss State is ready to pony up some money. However, in terms of Athletic Department Budgets, Miss State ranks 11th next to Vanderbilt in the SEC. Unless, Miss State offers 3mil a year, I can see him going to UF if offered.

Nobody thinking about Malzahn to UF? Mullen does look like the replacement, but it is a possibility.

Per sources, Lane Kiffin, Coach O and Monte are on a plane to Gainesville as we speak. TIFWIW. Will be installed as coaching staff this evening at press conference. Kiffin quoted as saying "we will put together the finest coaching staff in america"

Maybe not our recruiting significantly this year.It may unravel their recruiting class and help us on the field which will give us even more in roads to Florida in the long term though. It also helps us with a few recruits this year who we are up against right now, significantly Lanier because his decision is coming so soon.

Mullen and Malzahn with that talent honestly scare me more than a half hearted Meyer.

Gus to UF would be intriguing because of the speed players they have down there.

I agree but I'll reiterate what others have said, I believe this is Mullen's job if he wants it. He has HCing experience and ties to UF already. I think Gus fills the void at Miss State unless he gets a big time offer. I think both will be successful though.

Yeah, cause Florida doesn't have first pick as is....they can only take so many of those great athletes...I would worry more about their scheme then their recruiting abilities.

I would love to pull Mike Blakely, A.C. Leonard, and Trip Thurman from them. That would be fantastic.
