if Tennessee had to give away tickets to student locals for a CHAMPIONSHIP game just to fill up its fan section?!

Houston, Rice students get to experience national championship - The Dagger - NCAABBlog - Yahoo! Sports

One thing you got to hand to Kentucky: they travel for their basketball. The Houston economy had to be disappointed that Kentucky didn't take the win on Saturday. Cost the town a fortune that they lost seeing how pathetic the UCONN fanbase is.

Has nothing to do with the fact that the Undergrad population in Lexington is 20,000 and the Undergrad population in Storr's is 6,000, right???

Just act like nobody saw this.

Said this in another thread. Play the game in a bball arena like staples or msg. That court and venue was a joke. Those rims sounded like an old school playground.

Jim Calhoun said in the post game press conference that it was one of the best venue's and stadium's that he has ever been in. But, what would he know?

This isn't true. UConn is a standard flagship public state school with an undergrad enrollment of 20,000+.

I'm sure he is going to trash the venue after just winning the title. Come on dude. see through the coach talk a bit. It is a great stadium but the fact is its tough for shooters to play in a cavern and on Vandy type floor.

That wasnt the reason the offense sucked last night but it didn't help it either.

Calhoun has a reputation of telling it like it is. If he didn't mean it, he wouldn't have said it.

You are correct. I misread the information on their site. Apparently, it was 16,000 and 6,000. Maybe I should refrain from posting so early in the morning.

16,000 students are all supposed to travel down in the middle of the semester to Houston?

Pretending like tournaments and championship game locations are made with any consideration for current students is a joke. It's for fans and alumni, primarily. There's more of them, and they have a lot more money.

How dare you err on enrollment numbers for some northern university. Internet message boards are only for people who are experts in all subjects simultaneously.

Check the enrollment numbers, OP. Dumb thread.

How bout you read the article, genius? UCONN would've been happy to give the tickets to any UCONN fan, not necessarily a student. Butler didn't seem to have any problem getting rid of its allotment. Dumb reply.

I think ky travels so well in BB because they suck at everything else, and will never sniff a pro team in anything except fudgepacking.

And the public university rankings reflect that different level of focus.

Academically -- at least -- they are comparable universities in most of their departments.

I am a little surprised there is a such a wide gap between their rankings.
