How good can our DL

I'm glad we are getting Maggitt back for 2014. Whether he's on the line or lb, he will make a difference. I think Jacob Johnson and Vareen will be good ones. Other than that, I think we'll have serviceable guys. Of course, adding the new DL recruits for 2015/2016 will make us better and better. Thankful we are not struggling to recruit DL's like in years past.

The fact that we have such good players coming in, is just going to make it easier to keep recruiting the best. Recruits out there see that Jones is build a NC team, and they want to be a part of that team that finally puts UT back on top. It will make them legends with volnation and they will have fans for life, no matter where they go or what NFL team they play for, or what company they go to work for, they will always get that attention in knoxville and surrounding areas.

I have a feeling we get sweat. From what I heard, him and mckenzie got along well at the opening. They could decide they want to be the best duo in the country and give QB's nightmares for the 2-3 weeks before UT plays them.

I don't think you know what you have with Williams. I was high on this kid, but he really hasn't done much. Now he has added about 30 pds. and you have to wonder how this will affect his play. (Hopefully improves) Hendrix is coming in at that weight and is a much more talented player.
Perhaps Williams can play inside on passing downs like Corey did last year. Anyway, his play has been somewhat pedestrian up to this point.

Vereen is also an unknown. Yes, we keep hearing about flashes in practice, but I'm struggling to remember any game changing plays, which is what you need from a rush end. He is undersized for sure and he hasn't been counted on as an every down player. Dwight Freeney was an underrated, undersized pass rusher.

On another note. I just looked up Rivals top 100 from 2005 top get a 10 year perspective. UT signed 6 players. Morley (bust), Scott, McCoy, Crompton (meh), Coker (cough), Hardesty.
Suffice to say, recruiting aint an exact science.
Suh was the 6th highest rated DT that year.

You realize Jordan Williams is moving inside to DT?

I've heard the same talk everyone else has.
That only hurts what experience he does have.

He is a UF legacy who UF didn't want. And lived Gainesville. Think about it.

I'm pretty sure Vereen had 2 "big" plays last year. He had a hurry against South Alabama on the play where Rudolph intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the game and a pretty good sack in the second half of the Georgia game in a pretty vital 3rd down.

However, he also has drawn some flags that really hurt us too. He hadn't learned to stop at the whistle yet when Neyland was rocking.
