How important is the Pitt game?

Drew Lock was a pocket passer and he made him into an All SEC quarterback that set Mizzou records and is in a tight race for a starting spot in the NFL. Prior to Heupel being there, Lock was gawd awful. This offense is about getting the ball out and to the playmakers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Not running. Who knows. I just hope this staff isn’t stubborn and hitches their ride to a QB that can’t get it done (not necessarily saying we give up on Milton yet)
So he can't make Bailey a decent QB ?

It's important because this is the next game. BG is over and all the others are later. This game would be an 8 out of ten because it could lead to a pressureless way forward with a win,or,tightening of the butt for added import to the rest of the season. As it stands,GBO!

It’s game 2 in season 1 of a total rebuild. I wouldn’t place too much importance on it. It’s a chance to get better, nothing more.

For Fan Morale: 10
For Bowl Eligibility: 10
For SEC East Standing: 0
For Players and Coaches: 5

Fan morale? Oh I cannot wait to read the comments on here after the game. If we win, some will complain that we should have beaten them worse. But if we lose, the Heupel sucks and it’s time to look for a new coach will start.

It’s funny cause it’s true. Maybe I should have said THIS Fan’s Morale. Although I gotta say, working with some Vandy fans here recently has shot my confidence up a little. Good to know we are better than at least ONE team in the SEC.

It matters a lot right now. It may not matter so much if we go on to lose 4 or 5 more by the end of the season.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how important to you is it that the Vols get this win?
1: (Not important at all, we could lose and it doesn't mean much, you know, growing pains and such...)
10: (This game is critical to show the fans, recruits, and the world that we're on track with Heupel. If we lose I'm burning all my Vol gear.)
10! This is one of the few toss up games we need to get!

9.9! It’s the difference of 3-0 vs 2-1 heading into Gators week!
Also puts us after UT Tech game halfway to 6 with 9 games to go.

All games are important. Not just for the team, also for we battered Vols fans. Like the team, we have a need to wobblingly stand, brush the dirty off us, wipe the blood from our faces, swaying from too many blows, yet stand defiantly proud. And perhaps in a somewhat weakened and hoarse voice shout, "We're Tennessee!" Every game is important, especially now.

It's pretty important when you figure SEC wins are going to few and far between. Win 4 OOC and you only have to win 2 Conf to bowl. Now if we find a QB that can throw for 400 a game that could all change.

6… these guys seem better than a lot of the teams we will play. It’s OOC and we should get better as the year goes on… I don’t expect a lot this season especially after watching our first game. The W would be much bigger than the L.

Want to make a list of overrated guys? Maybe include the underrated guys like Spraggins, V Jones, Tillman, etc too.

BS on the "different system" stuff unless you can objectively prove it. The "systems" with regard to plays aren't radically different. This roster fits the 4-2-5 better than the 3-4 and all that "stuff" Pruitt was trying to do.
Umm no I’m not going to single out every player on our team who I don’t think has as much talent as their star rating indicates. That’d be rude.

Underrated guys I’ll go Spraggins, Simmons, and B Young. Not sure about Jones or Tillman. Hopefully one of them will finally have a big year.

Recruited talent, yes, developed talent? That remains to be seen. Pitt's roster is full of upperclassmen this season.

Good point. An accurately rated 3-star who is a senior can be a better player than an accurately rated 4-star who is a sophomore at most positions. May not matter at positions like WR, CB, RB where athleticism rules.

Got to agree with you. Our fans, I think, need to practice Vol love rather than Vol hate. Those guys came here to play for us. Some may not be as talented as we'd like, but by golly, they're part of our team, and I'll cheer for them come pounding hail or pour rain. Now, it's true now, and then you get protoplasmic scum who laughed at our losing to Ga Ste. despite being a member of our team. Or that brainless egocentric Salter guy. But guys who come, stay, and play well or badly, I'll give a standing ovation for just being a Vol rather than put them down. And before some ask, that goes for JG as well.

9...Lets not kid ourselves that this isn’t a big game. I’d put Pitt on the same level as perhaps UK in talent...likewise, with an experienced HC and system. A win this Saturday goes a long way in regards to this team’s buy-in of Heupel, imo. Lots of newer faces on the 2-deep, but just as many experienced vets....and on the flip side, with a bad loss on Saturday, faint whispers of doubt could be trying to sneak into the mind.

This program needs this win. The confidence going forward will be huge and possibly the difference in 5 wins or possibly 8.
Gotta have the receivers make some catches. They don't have to have 40-50 yards passes but enough to keep the chains moving and the momentum going. That opens up the running game even more. I would hope this is a relatively even match up. Pros/Cons on both sides. A lop-sided loss would be telling. Even a competitive game like last nights' Dallas-Tampa game would be ok with me--showing progress is tantamount. A win would be terrific!

This will determine if we are able to beat the middle SEC on schedule. Missouri, KY, SC South Alabama as a bonus and Candy. Which would give us 7. Lose and I would immediately put ceiling at 5 wins
