The one slight criticism I've had for a while with Heupel is that he sticks with underperforming experienced players too long. It' subtle, but it part of his stubbornness. He seems to wait one loss too many before making changes. He might add a wrinkle here or there in the playcalling, but not much different with personnel. I think thats the case here. He sticks with his initial starting lineup until the end of the game, even if we lose with them. If that happens, he will the feel forced, that he has no other option, but to change something.
But we all see the problems now, so I don't understand waiting. Why do the same thing over and over and expect different results?
Did I say Heard is the obvious choice?Yes what a ridiculous idea.
The hurt , out of shape, limited Heard is the obvious choice
Sometimes negative thoughts are facts.Sigh...
So many cannot wait to pounce with the negative thoughts that appear to constantly swirl through their brains.

I think the problem is they did not set the OL until Monday of the UTC week by using competition all summer. They should have set the OL coming out of spring practice so they would have been meshing together and developing consistency over the summer.
Too bad because this year was Heupel’s shot. We lose to much on the OL and DL to compete next year.
Negative thoughts are just as valid as positive thoughts if not more.Sigh...

Nor will any coach. Not sure what point you are trying to make. Heupel was forced to play Hooker because of an injury...not because of anything he evaluated and figured out. Every coach evaluates his players in practice. Idk if Campbell is better but CJH hasn't reached any level of being above question.
Ainge was in this camp preseason 2022 as he watched many practices. Just saying.. Hooker took a while to get noticed and appreciated. As for Heard, sometimes he looked absolutely helpless and lost, however he balled out on Sampson's touchdown and made the key block. A flash of what could be. Being injured makes it hard to stay in shape. Not being in shape makes you miss a step, and missing a step makes you look helpless at times.Negative thoughts are just as valid as positive thoughts if not more.
He’s absolutely right about what he said. Heupel legit thought Milton was better. He can make mistakes like anyone else.
Yes, he thought that based on what the QBs DEMONSTRATED in practices. You see, the Heup didn't have Harry Potter's wand to tell him what his eyes saw, really wasn't there. Not being a warlock with a harem of witches, he couldn't concoct a spell for a crystal ball to show him his eyes were lying as well. It was sort of like Lyle Allen constant overlooking Josh Dobbs, until Worley, Riley, and Peterman, just weren't getting the job done. Then game time, and along came the Dobb goblin. Bet you wouldn't have any better (and probably worse under the circumstances)than either coach.H
Heupel thought Milton was better than Hooker. He is not beyond questioning.
I say implement the Rick Barnes approach to the OLine. Sub out starters for a drive or two if they have a glaring mistake or penalty. There needs to be more accountability. You can't just sit back and say its a different guy every play or we are just one player from executing away. You have to insert yourself and make sure it happens. Not sit back and passively watch it destroy the team's chances of winning.Ironically, this was a common complaint about Phillip Fulmer. Experience tends to work on game day. I think fans sometimes think the backups are better than they are.
