I'm not trying to be a negavol what so ever BUT how long will this momentum last? I mean I think we are capable of beating Oregon but if we get killed by them then everyone will just be like Butch sucks blah blah blah. Just like last year everyone thought we would compete for the SEC East and then a few games in everyone including players were back in the same old slump. Also it's hard to think if we just win 5 games again which with our teams experience or lack thereof that the recruits aren't gonna bolt. Like I said I'm not being negative and I think Butch is gonna get this done but I'm just stating the obvious. I hope for the best but I'm very cautious to get caught up in all this just yet. Go Vols!!

If your not being a negavol why post crap like this? There is more buz around this program than I can remember in a long time. Try to enjoy the ride, I have a feeling it going to be wild!

Just enjoy it man. Ain't that what it's all about?

I'm just hoping for the best, I think Butch will get us the wins we desperately need, but I just know how everyone is really quick to jump ship real quick if we don't win a BCS game in one year.

Do you think we've turned a corner or not? If you do, then just enjoy the positives you see happening and wait for the season to start like everybody else. If you don't, then just enjoy being miserable. Easy peasy.

Most realistic people will understand if Oregon blows us out. I expect it to be honest with you.

We don't have a complete roster w/ depth @ many positions. Plus 80% of our offense will be playing on sundays upcoming season. Enjoy the ride as the
Tide is turning which will make it sweeter.

That is a negative (and not an accurate) description of our fan base, IMO. This will be Butch's first season and I don't know of anyone who is expecting a BCS game. We didn't expect it in Kiffin's first season and I don't recall anyone calling for his resignation -- in fact, most were upset when he up and left. Maybe there were some idiots on the fringe, but there weren't many. All teams' fan bases include those types. After Dooley's first year, most fans were patient. Even after season 2, I'd say that most were behind him. At the start of his 3rd season, there was a lot of optimism and excitement. And even up until the Troy game there were a lot of fans who wanted to wait and see how the rest of the season played-out.

So I think your concerns are based on a false premise. JMO.

Who in the heck thinks UT is going to a BCS bowl in Jones' first year? Those people are morons. I believe the majority of fans will be very satisfied if they just make it to a bowl game this year.

Thats so not true and nobody with any football smarts doesnt expect A BCS Bowl this yr, especially a him having to follow Dooleys mess. 7-8 wins with our schedule would be a great, successful first yr.

We saw horrible coaching and the team giving up last year. With this staff I expect us to still lose a few but narrow the gap, possibly upset someone. The dogs will come out in force when we see incompetence and the team quitting. I've never seen butchs teams do that, even in his 4-8 season at Cincinnati. So lets cross that bridge when we never get to it

If we get thrashed by Oregon, I won't be that surprised. If we get thrashed by Florida, it will be a sinking, "$h!t, not again" feeling for me.

If UT goes to a bowl.. any bowl.. then Butch should be Coach of the Year. If UT goes to a BCS then Butch should be coach for life.

If he can get the D turned around this will be a better than a low level bowl. O has some serious potential.

Maybe I'm just simple... but if we beat a ranked team that will be something that hasn't happened in the last three years. Seems like a good place to start.

If you believe what Kelley and Hurd said you won't worry about guys bolting. Both said Coach Jones sold them on being the foundation of Tennessee's road back. They are being sold on the idea of building a program.
