How long will it last?

To be the man, you have to beat the man.. Nature Boy. Beat someone in the SEC that matters in the grand scheme

We could very easily see a similar situation to ole miss this year. get to 6-6 make a bowl game and sign a top 10 class.

Maybe I'm just simple... but if we beat a ranked team that will be something that hasn't happened in the last three years. Seems like a good place to start.

With all the crap that has happened the past few years, I would suggest that we just enjoy the good things that happen. We have gotten some good recruits committed recently, they may stay committed, they may not. You may choke on a chicken wing tommorow and die, you may not. Just enjoy what you got when you got it, stop looking for gloom and doom, and never, ever, be afraid of chicken wings, they are so tasty.

I wouldn't say Oregon will break the season. If we lose to them it's expected. Even we if lose to Florida. Both are away games. IMHO our season revolves around the Georgia game at neyland, if we can just get this one game, that would catapult the vols on recruiting. We have a good chance at that game. Keep in mind we were very very close last year, and that was with a coach who could snatch defeat away from the jaws of victory.

Most realistic people will understand if Oregon blows us out. I expect it to be honest with you.

We don't have a complete roster w/ depth @ many positions. Plus 80% of our offense will be playing on sundays upcoming season. Enjoy the ride as the
Tide is turning which will make it sweeter.

Like everyone else here, I'm speculating. We will likely lose to Oregon partially due to our lingering lack of depth. But mostly because speed kills and Oregon has an over abundance of speed on both sides of the ball.

BUT: With the conditioning, lighter but stronger and hopefully faster players Butch is sculpturing, we won't lose as bad as the last meeting. I think the team leaves Oregon win or lose with their heads held high and believing they will have a better season than 2012.

The key as usual will be avoiding injuries to key players. We do that, Butch's sculptured players will shock more than 1-2 teams who are projected to beat us. I don't think we can take Bamma yet but I do think it will be a game along the lines of the Kiffin coached game against Bamma several years ago. Bamma will neither waltz nor jitterbug in the 2013 game. I do think everybody else will end up being like the folks below:

If you are going into this season thinking 9 wins then you are a fool. Butch is turnin this program around, but we are going to have to let him get a recruiting class in. Our schedule is brutal. If he wins 10 games this year, build a statue in his image.

For one who doesn't comprehend that a statement is overtly admitted to be pure speculation, hence not a concrete claim,to call another a fool is foolery isn't it?

We have turned the corner...thank you Coach Butch! We have had a wonderful wonderful wonderful March. The key to success to success is getting this type of players. Hurd is the next Adrian Peterson or Erc Dickerson type of running back.

With that said, I fully expect Oregon to beat us easily out there. However, we might be able to upset one of the middle tier team...like Florida. After that beatdown that little WAC school put on them in the Sugar Bowl, they should be ripe for the picking.

It'll last until Oregon beats us. Then we will come back down to earth .

We have as much talent as South Carolina, who has won 11 games in back to back seasons.

Obviously I don't expect us to win 11 games, but the talent is there to win anywhere from 7 to 9 games. Just depends on how quickly the players adapt to the new system and if the D can be salvaged to middle of the road in the SEC.

UGA and South Carolina are our best shots at upsetting someone this year. Auburn, Mizzou, and Vandy are all must wins. No excuses. We have the talent to get it done, and we won't have to rely on a choke artist at QB and a WR who's more concerned with sliding to the turf and protecting his draft status than picking up a first down.

If he keeps the intensity, no excuses, and works hard...who knows.....Just be grateful you are a Tennessee fan.

Agree with most everything here. But our talent on offense, outside of RB and OL of course, has virtually no experience. Long way to go there. Also, we have little depth at some key spots. Hopefully Bajakian can shorten the learning curve for these guys.

Also, add ky as a must win.

Most fans aren't expecting to win 9 or 10 games this season. most recruits know we are in the middle of a rebuilding process. We won't lose any of our buzz with losses to Oregon, UF, UGA, Bama or USC. To be honest all we can do is gain buzz if we even play any of them.
A lack of depth and talent is not a terrible thing recruiting wise when you are in the beginning of a rebuild, if you can show a kid that you're close but you need h to get you over the edge and that he will come in a play immediately

I disagree about Auburn. They are in the same boat as us and have more talent. They will be much improved next year as well. Will be a dog fight IMO

We could beat Oregon. They lost a pretty good haul of players to the NFL draft, not to mention Chip Kelly. We are going to be tough. I am almost sure of it. We have SEC caliber players. They do too. But they aren't unbeatable.

I'm not going to call for anyone's head if we don't win. But I think this is an awesome opportunity game. We will be at full strength, before depth issues will undoubtedly become a concern. Our 1's are going to be really talented players that Oregon will have to deal with.

There is a lot of question marks in Oregon with a new coach in town. I realize it's a long shot, but I am optimistic and am hoping for an interesting and fun out of conference match up that should be much better than last time.

This is different we got a coach that knows how long the football field is, and that there are 4 quarters in a game instead of 2, plus has enough common sense to know the object of the game is to score more points in a game than the team you are playing, our ex coach thought that the fewer points you scored the better of you would be.

All i want is to just see improvement from game to game, i know we will win maybe 6 and at best 7 just see the team fight to the end instead of quitting, be nice again to just see a halftime adjustment, just play hard, Rome was not built in 1 day or year i know it will take time, but i like what im seeing we are coming and we the VOLNATION will rise to the top sooner than later.
