Ok guys... What freshmen do you guys see starting at some point in the season on the defensive side of the ball. I think Hendrix at DE. Maybe Barnett at DT or DE as well. Other than that maybe Bates at LB and Kelly at safety. A position we have been weak at especially when Randolph was out.

Also what freshmen do you guys think will contribute significantly on the defensive side even of they don't start. Obviously I think all the guys I named above. The Berrys might see a significant amount if action along with Gavin Bryant and Charles Mosley in the middle.

Of course we would rather not need freshmen to step in and contribute right away. Unfortunately... That is the current state of the program though.

Moseley at corner and Kelly at safety for sure...if Evan Berry had reported earlier he would have been a higher probability...as is he will still log high minutes...same scenario with Hendrix...Bates will ball out on ST ala JRM last year.

It's a choice between raw talent and speed coupled with inexperience, or what we're used to. I say plenty of freshman, it's not impossible to think they could be great this year.

Not predicting who will start, but I expect to see Bates, Bryant, and Johnson all get significant PT at LB. I also look for Kelly and Gaulden to get plenty of time at safety, Moesley at CB, and Hendrix at DE.

I think the bigger question is...what freshmen will redshirt? I think most of them will play at some point. Candidates to redshirt will most likely come from the line either defense or offense save Coleman Thomas.

Well, how about 11? That is eleven on Offense and eleven on Defense. Oh, plus two kickers. Think that is 40.

Coleman Thomas a day 1 starter and not on this list, E Moseley is currently a starter going into fall. Also I can't imagine much out of DT Mosley as a Freshman

Barring injury we won't see a freshman start on D-line. Someone would have to unseat Sals,Owens and O'bryant to get in the middle. Then at end you got Maggit,Vereen, and Jordan Williams i do think some will get play time but starts will be hard to come by for T-Froshmen on the D-line.

Johnson has been moved to DE doubt you will see him at LB.
But maybe they move him back you never know.

You think these guys start? Or do you just mean they see playing time?

See playing time. But a few of them, is Kelly, Wolfe, Hendrix, Hurd, Medley...yeah starting time is possible. Maybe not every game but at some point.

Thomas and Moseley yes for sure. How could I forget about them? They are already playing on the first team.
