why make a charade of it and suspend them for a game or two... we would be doing it to make ourselves feel better... if they're going to stay, let them play...
I tend to agree. Sure, kids love to play and hate to miss games. However, if they know they're going to be allowed to play when it really matters, you aren't going to change behavior with short suspensions.

Don't sit them for a misdemeanor charge. That's playing the PR game intead of doling out what is deserved.

So what u are saying is let them play so we dont get embarrassed on national tv. It would be more embarrassing to the university and bruce pearl if they did play:rock:

Right, because UF's football program gets no respect at all because of Urbie's expedient method of discipline. He's the biggest sleazeball in football and everybody loves him because he wins.

But I'm sure ESPN will devote their front page and a special feature to us for our integrity if we sit them. Or, no one will give a rat's behind and we'll just get run out of the gym for no good reason.

Don't get me wrong - it was colossally, mind-bogglingly stupid what Smith and the other three stooges did. I just think considering that they were only charged with misdemeanors, this would be a heck of a time to be pragmatic rather than taking the "high ground" that doesn't really exist anymore and watching our basketball program implode because of it.

Many of you seem to be under impression that we actually stand a chance against Kansas even if all four play. I, however, am not as optimistic.

Why suspend them against KU and get blown out? Suspend them for another game without national implications.

Weed ,beer and guns - get it done. Sounds like stuff for a new rap song for Pearl. I'm going with "none of them play"and the fans just deal with it. The rest of the team will have to deal with it...........

yeah do like Ron Zook the year Katrina hit. he suspended that punk for the first game of the season. Then when the storm caused the game to be resheduled. well in true class he kept that kid suspended for the resheduled game three fourths of the way through the season. He didnt wanna honor first game of the season once he realized the new first game was not a pushover.

Wow, just got home and viewed the results, thus far. Overwhelming majority vote 'None of 'em.' I think we see at least 2 on the floor for that game.

All 4 should be permanently off the team, for the sake of UT's reputation. This isn't football, but rather basketball - a loss to the #1 team in January, by whatever margin, will not keep UT from post-season play in March.

Let 'em play.

Opportunities to beat the No. 1 team in the country don't come along very often. Pearl could handle the heat. If the gun belonged to none of them, and if no one was charged with DUI, what's the beef? Ho hum on pot these days. Parents blaze. I would be right now if I had some.

The heat Pearl might get would be nothing compared to the lost opportunity and shellacking on national television for misdemeanors. The guilty would probably play their butts off. Let 'em play. Go Vols, beat Kansas! ... Although sadly I don't think they will play.

Play them against KU, but suspend 1 or more later, but not at the same time.
