The Vols love to mash that ball over the fences, and we stand today at 159 YTD, which is one better than our previous record of 158 (2022)

What will be our year end total home runs?

I think there will be some mechanism coming (ball or bat) to slow the hit velocity.
That record for most ever will probably never be broken.

Omaha is a bigger field, so some over these dongs just over our fence will fall short at Omaha. Also, increased competition with pitching will make it harder to dong. I think we will hit more, but I do not expect to hit 4 per game when we get to Omaha. I would not mind hitting no more dongs as long as we find a way to keep winning.

Going out on a limb and predicting 175 total home runs for the BaseVols! Go Big Orange!

The minimum number of games we have left is 2 (worst case scenario) and the maximum number of games is 11 I believe (if we go 3 games Super Regional, 5 games to get to CWS final, and 3 games in the final). Let's assume they play well and get at least 5-6 more games and hit 3 HR's per game. That would put them in the 175 range which I think is the most likely. Of course, I hope they just win out and only play 8 more games no matter how many HR's.

Is there a way they can deaden the bats just a touch so you don't lose a ton of HRs, but the exit velo's go down a little? Announcer the other day made a good point that if you try to solve for a "problem" that is only really a "problem" for the very top players/teams, you end up totally decimating the offense for everyone else. That's a difficult needle to thread and I expect the typical NCAA overreaction that swings the pendulum way too far the other way.

I think we bunt and steal a bunch!
Bunted home runs are worth double !

If one of our guys gets a triple and is standing on base and deeks the team by saying "LOOK, there's a UFO" and then trots home, he's stealing a HR if the ball was still in play for the triple and no one called time yet. (I don't know if any of that's true, but I hope it is)

Don’t go changing the game! 😛

If you’re a momma doing game changer, that’s definitely a possibility. 😂😂😂

For us to have a realistic opportunity of breaking the record we would have to hit at least 12 homers in the supers. That would leave us needing 18 in 5 games to break the record. It can be done but it would be a long shot. The Missouri series is one to look at where we could have done some damage but didn’t. If our bats are swinging like their normal self in that series then we would probably be in the 165-170 range heading into supers and only needing 2-3 homers per game to break the record.

It would be easier to manipulate the ball, lowering the seams a few years ago made the balls travel a little farther and I think they have been wound tighter too of late
