I just took some crowd snapshots of the tv broadcast. The orange really pops out. But the four random sections I counted had >9 red shirts for every 1 orange.

I agree. Just reporting what Herbie said. My estimate is closer to yours. From another thread:

The OSU sideline and the student section at one endzone look lheavily crimson. Like 90%+.

But the Tennessee side of the stadium and the other end, they look majority Tennessee. Comfortable majority.

So that says something above 25% Vols in the stadium (half of half).

My gut estimate: 25,000 to 30,000, give or take.
