How much longer?

seems it really all comes down to poor execution, and slow to react coaching...chicken or the egg theory. One follows the other and so on. Any DC who can read film should be able to shut down our offense.

It will change when we have a QB that is able to deliver the ball.

It will change when we can line up at the four yard line and score without calling audibles at the line and playing scared.

It will change when our receivers can catch the ball.

It will change when we have coaches who develop players.

Therefore, it may never change.  I sure hope it does.  Go Vols.

My only problem with that is the "coaches who develop players" comment. I hear this all of the time....you would think this coaching staff just ruins players once they get to UT judging by some similair posts, but if that is the case how does UT have more players in the NFL than almost any school out there?

Not lately. We haven't had a QB go to the NFL and make it since Cut left.

How many QB coaches can take credit for actually making a guy worse during the off season? RS can.

We also have not had a QB with the physical tools needed to make it in the NFL since Cut left. Casey Clausen did not seem to get alot better as his career progressed, but he also did not have the weapons for a couple of years.

There are more factors other than just the coaching that has caused us not to score many points this year.

I have never been a big fan of Randy Sanders' play calling, but Fulmer has the power to overrule any play Sanders calls. If you are going to blame Sanders, you have to blame Fulmer. The coaches can only do so much and then it's up to the players.

I don't see any changes coming in the coaching staff. I think Fulmer is a great head coach and I don't see any other coach giving their heart and soul into it as much as he does. I don't know how firing Sanders and hiring someone else would change what has happened on the field this year as far as fumbles, dropped balls, incomplete passes, etc.

The QB situation hasn't helped. Ainge is a good QB, but after he got hurt he has been afraid to get hit again. Clausen is a good QB, but he can't throw the long passes that are needed in every game.

The coaches have bragged about their offensive line being big, but I personally think they are too big. Being too big slows them down. Maybe they should lose some weight and build more muscle.

This is just my opinion and some suggestions. I'm still proud of my VOLS and I would support them if they lost every single game.

That is what everybody says, but Heath Shuler was a flop in the NFL, and look at what Cut did for him.

Fact of the matter is that Ainge has the tools (Fulmer says so himself) but he has actually gotten worse. RS is the QB coach is is directly responsible for his development. He has overseen Ainge as he has digressed.

That is something that drives me insane!!  Tennessee checks more than any football team that I know of.

Sometimes when you are on the 5 yardline and in a hostile environment like ALABAMA, they should just line up and run the freaking play. :banghead:  :banghead:

Amen!!! That has been a weakness for at least the last 2 years....

First of all, I have never claimed that Sanders was anywhere near the OC Cut was, that is why he got a shot as a head coach. I just think Sanders takes too much of the blame sometimes.
I think Ainge's problem this year has been his mental inability to deal with the more complex package they have thrown at him this year. The guy has got problems in his head this year, but let's give him another year and see what happens. I do agree that RS is responsible to a degree but I don't buy into the "RS made him worse" theory.

IMO the reason so many from UT go to the NFL is because the NFL coaches realize the talent is there and know they can develope it themselves. How many players in the NFL are one's we have never heard of before they become all-pro, and it was only because of a different coaching style or system. Tennessee is usually a goldmine with talented players who are never given enough "tough love" disipline or coaching during there college tenure to make a name for themselves. But send them to the NFL and they know they have to get better or find another job.
