How much more effective do you expect UF offense

He beat 3 top 10 teams in 2014 to get to #1, and almost beat Alabama. Overall yes, they had a poor record against ranked teams, but we're talking about Miss St. There's really no reason why they should be any good yet he won 60% of his games there and almost 50% of his conference games.

If there's one criticism of him, it's that he lost a couple of Egg Bowls that he shouldn't have, although he was still 5-4 against Ole Miss, and Ole Miss was good by their standards during that period.

If he had stayed at State, he wouldve had a team this coming season that would potentially rival his 14 team. Moorhead is inheriting a solid roster.

dunno, they are in the same situation as we are as far as offensive questions go, such as QB play and Oline. Not sure why Florida gets a pass while we get killed in the media for our situation....

Scary?

Our teams from the mid 90s and Meyer’s ‘08 team were scary.

I’ll settle for being slightly above average offensively.

With those recruiting grounds you guys have in Florida, the right coach/recruiter could make Florida a national title contender very quickly. Both Florida and Georgia should be competing for that stuff every year, but somehow their administrations screw it up. Alabama got it figured out. Hopefully UT just did as well.

all the extra stuff that went on with it. fair or not, people are holding a bias about it.

I don't think "substandard" is the right term, but it was pretty well-documented that Mullen wasn't their first choice (that was Chip Kelly). You can not get your #1 choice and still make a solid hire.

Disagree with that last sentence.

Alabama took a run at Rich Rod before settling on Nick Saban.

Ok, you can miss on your #1 choice and make the best hire of all time. :)

There's a lot of discussion that Florida overpaid for Mullen, and that's certainly a possibility, but personally I think it's easier to argue that we're overpaying Pruitt, an unproven assistant coach, $3.8m a year.

People are either unwilling or unable to adjust for the fact that Mullen had the record he did at Mississippi State. If he went 69-46 (33-39) at some national power, that's one thing. He did that, plus was #1 overall and went to a BCS bowl, at a cowtown school with basically no football history, and at a school where you're never going to be able to attract top recruits.

Should.

How much, how quick, is the question.

The question is gonna be how much better can Mullen be at a better school like UF. Everybody knows he can coach.

Agree. Does he have the fire in his belly to get them back on top? I hope not but he probably does offensively. I do not feel their d and special teams will look anything like UM when he was there.

All I know is Jordan Scarlett is the definition of mediocre running back.

I disagree. Jordan Scarlett runs hard, not sure if he has breakaway speed or not, but he's fast enough. In the long run, I think Ty Chandler will be the better back, but I would love to have Scarlett on UT's team. His running style kinda reminds me of John Kelly.
