Give him the staff he wants and let's return to the top. We have a chance to get a superstar head coach we can't let this fall through because of a couple of hundred thousand dollars. Get him Hart!!!

I think it's LOTS more than just a couple of hundred thousand dollars that Gruden is looking for to pay his staff.

Former AD Hamilton set a bad precedent with the laMe kiffscum hire and his staff since I think they were the highest paid college coaching staff in the country or very close to it.

Gruden wants HUGE $$$ for himself and he wants to be able to offer HUGE $$$ to anyone he wants on his staff just so he can hire whoever he wants to go steal away from any college of NFL staff.

Whatever happens and whoever we get as coaches the MOST important thing is that they damn sure better be GREAT recruiters or we'll never catch up with the top football programs in the country and we all know most of them are in the SEC and we'll have to get Wins over them to even get a sniff at a National Championship game.

If They are asking huge $$$$ for assistants, i think they will be big enough where their name sells automatically.

Why so much? 5 mill a year is enough you have to leave room for paying top $ for a OC and DC. He is not going to do it all on his own he needs a great staff around him and paying that kind of cash wont leave that much wiggle room.

Hubbs is suggesting that talks are done and that there will be no deal unless Gruden accepts our last offer package. What that package is, who knows. Kiffin got a ton of money for his staff and curious to know what staff offer to Gruden is. Either way, UT has to draw the line somewhere. You make a great offer and then move on.

Saw this post on KNS:

Gruden is holding out for assistant's salaries. Monte Kiffin resigned from his job at USC. Kiffin was Gruden's DC in Tampa. Wouldn't it be ironic if Vol fans get Gruden, but have to take Monte Kiffin back as part of the deal? LOL!

Read Mandel's mailbag from yesterday. College football is awash with money and it will only grow with tv money coming from the playoff. This revenue doesn't even consider increased revenue from a full stadium and happy boosters.

I say if you have an opportunity now to fix the program, then fix it. Spend $ to make $

That would be awkward!!

Monte is okay; but his contract would need some verbage that bars his offspring from any and all positions at UT.
