Come on. Al Qaeda trying something like that would be the result of a lot of planning and effort that I am sure the CIA and NSA are working 24/7/365 to prevent. Probably even thwarted some things we don't know about.

The worry with Obama is some white supremacist getting drunk, showing up without a plan (meaning no one knows) and taking pot shots at him.

Given how much we know about the former versus how little we know about the latter, Obama is in far greater danger. Not to mention that Obama is exposed about a thousand times more than Bush is right now.

do you realize how difficult it is to take a "pot shot" at someone at one of these events? first off the vast majority of obama events have metal detectors. most aren't completely open to the public either. me thinks some skin head might stand out;.

There's always some risk, of course, but in Obama's case it is much higher.

First, although W is heartily disliked, I don't think anyone out there would say that the intensity of the dislike for W is remotely close to the passion of some of those who do not want Obama to be president. We got people on here posting emails that some people think Obama is literally the anti-Christ.

Second, Bush is a lame duck. At this point, the overwhelming sense among those who don't like him is that he's soon going to be a retired guy. No one cares, really. Obama, on the other hand, some people think he's either Satan, a terrorist, an angry black man, a Marxist, etc., that is about to get his hands on the wheel with a Democratic Congress ready to do his every bidding.

There are WAY more and MUCH more intense wack jobs on the right than on the left this year. Anyone who thinks otherwise has not been paying attention to the rhetoric of the right for the last 6 months.

I am refering to the wackjobs that might ever actually take action, and right now I just don't see how anyone can think anything other than that there are more people motivated and capable of doing something idiotic on the right than on the left. Look at the Oklahoma bombings, the nutjobs arrested for threatening Obama last week, the imbalanced lady to the left in my avatar, the crazy old lady who insisted to McCain that Obama is an "A-rab," the fear rhetoric coming from the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh, and even the people on here talking about violence in the streets if Obama loses, arming themselves, etc.

Its not even a contest right now as to who has the most or largest or most threatening lunatic fringe. The right wins that contest by a couple of dozen touchdowns.

you make the mistake thinking a couple of wackjobs with guns who are more than likely being followed by the fbi is worse than hundreds of thousands of delusional liberals who want to turn us into france west. the most delusional of which are actually running the democratic party. one group has little to no effect on anything and almost no power in the party's politics, the other will likely ruin this country for this generation and the next. one group the insane are running the asylum, in the other they are not. now this is friggin scary.

When Bush was elected we heard the same rhetoric from the left. If you qualify your statement with "right now" you would be correct. The only reason you haven't heard these nut job remarks from the left about Bush recently is because he is on the way out and will no longer be a factor.

People are not going around claiming that Bush is a Marxist or a terrorist, or an "A-rab" who is anti-American. People don't write articles or send out mass emails about how Bush was actually born in another country, or that he associates with the PLO or the Weathermen or black religious leaders who want to kill whitey.
