How progressive are you?

That was a pathetic pile of questions to try and evaluate where I fall out politically. Many of the questions had an add in that completely changed my answer.

yeah, as I took the test I got the distinct impression that the people who wrote the questions were committed "progressives" who had no clue about how conservatives/libertarians think.

the immigration question, which I referenced in the OP, is a perfect example. The left doesn't view the issue as illegal vs. legal immigration while the right has no problem with legal immigration (in fact, we encourage it) but we do have problems with illegal immigration. Because the bulk of illegal immigrants have the potential to become a voting bloc for the left, the right's opposition gets spun as racism.

I agree that the wording of a lot of the questions was loaded. Even worse, in the understandable effort to make the questions direct and focused, the "choice" was pretty narrow and thereofre not reflective of what any of us might put for an answer.

For example, the question about whether military force is a necessary weapon to combat terrorists. I mean duh, of course it is. The question of course is where and when.

At any rate, 228 for me. Just slightly to the left of average, according to the website, which makes sense to me.

some of the questions on that test are pretty poorly worded as well.

Well, I meant that we were like reflections. Like how when you lift your left hand, your reflection lifts their right?

In any case, I am still surprised I am coming out left at all. I don't like government regulation, I am for less taxation, and for smaller government. My lefty issues are mostly social.
