How will Cutcliffe affect current recruiting class?

This.

Hire a solid Offensive staff. It will be a semi-pro style offense. You must keep Kippy Brown. Try to hang onto Cregg & keep Reaves. You keep Garza and Thompson as well.

I think you go hard for Garner as either the DC or Recruiting Coordinator. He will come here for either of those titles. Make Thompson the other one (DC or RC). I think maybe next year you make Lance Thompson the HC in waiting.

What will matter is the staff you put together, not just the HC.

We really need to hang on to the current staff memebers. If we don't, we will have a terrrible recruiting class

Cutcliffe won't come without his Duke staff. Welcome to hell, fellas. And does anyone know if the Music City Bowl has tickets available yet?

And I mean for 2012...we won't be going bowling until then.

Are you being that positive? I hope we even make a bowl???

It looks like UT fans got what they wanted!!!!! Fulmer could not win 4 NT's and 7 SEC titles in 17 years, so he was treated like a runaway slave by the fans. Kiffin was a self-absorbed mercenary who merely acted as such. Don't hate him for loving hisself more than UT. He was and will remain an outsider. So how are you going to treat the next coach? How fast does he have to win the crystal ball before the high and mighty Vol fans pronounce he should never coach again?

Give it a rest.

Fulmer had more than enough time and obviously couldn't do it. He lasted 10 years after the NT. We've been basically on the downward slide since the end of 2001.

The only problem now is Hamilton took a gamble on Lane, due to him being able to deliver Monte and an all-star recruiting class. I never expected Lane to last here more than 4-5 years, but I don't think anyone expected him to bolt after one season.

But the question is, if many thought he would likely bolt even in 4-5 years, then was it worth it? Or was Hamilton dumb enough to think Lane would be a long-termer here?

Either way, the problem wasn't getting rid of Fulmer. If anything it was Hamilton taking a gamble on a young coach who had yet to prove anything and a staff of mercenaries.

I'd rather gone with someone who was solid and had a chance to stay here for up to 10 years if successful. Lane was NEVER going to stay that long. NEVER.
