How will we do against South Carolina?

SC could be, no, they will be tough. Most of the teams we have played lately have played us tough. Ainge is no longer a surprise and our offense is fairly predicatable since there is only so much a freshman qback can learn his first year. If I was RS, I would develope an opening game plan that started Shaffer, just to unnerve SC. Besides, I think it's too early to allow Ainge to believe he walks on water. He seems abit too lose out there flinging the ball. I watched him during warmups prior to the Ala. game and he was horseplaying too much with his receivers, allowing them to throw him passes, laughing and joking around. I may be wrong, but I thoght he just looked too comfortable out there just before going to battle with one of our biggest rivalrys. It may have been his way to expel some jitters, but if not, he needs to become focused. ;)

I think SC will be a similar struggle offensively for Tennessee as the past few SEC games. Just like Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia... SC allows less than 300 yards per game.... and SC has a better offense than Alabama too.

Our offense can click... You basically just need to light a fire under their rear-ends to make them know what's up. They will figure it out.

I tell ya what guys we better bring our A-game to South Carolina. If not it's going to be a mighty big struggle to beat SC.They shut Bama down.I'm having bad feelings about this one,but I never thought we would be Georgia this year also.Unlike Bama they have a running game and a passing game.

This ain't no fairy tale, Granny could turn out to be the Big Bad Wolf. I hope sombody steps on Granny's classes so he can't watch the game film of the games with Auburn, Ole Miss, and Alabama.

One thing I haven't heard too many people do is give credit to Alabama's defense. All I keep reading is about the poor play-calling, the poor offensive execution. You know what, I think those are the same plays that have worked many times before this season. We've been getting those 3rd-and-short runs for first downs this season.... it has a high percentage of success... I say go with it. Could be why the Vols are 3rd in the SEC in 1st downs.

Let's examine the 2nd half of the Alabama game...

1st drive of the half: 4 runs, 3 pass attempts. 8 plays for 57 yards. An incomplete pass on 3rd-and-8 led to a 40-yard field goal. Tennessee 17, Alabama 10.

2nd drive: 9 runs, 4 pass attempts. 13 plays for 78 yards. Houston had 4 carries for 18 yards, Riggs had 4 carries for 15 yards... an additional 12 yard run by Riggs was nullified by a holding penalty. The drive ended when Ainge did not throw to the intended receiver but instead threw into heavy coverage at the UA goal line and the ball was intercepted.

3rd drive: start of the 4th quarter... 3 runs. 3 plays for 8 yards. Riggs picked up 6 yards on 1st down, no gain on 2nd down, and 2 yards on 3rd down. Vols punt.

4th drive: Alabama's kicker had just kicked a career long 47-yard field goal to pull to Tennessee 17, Alabama 13. Only 6 minutes remain in the game. Alabama used over 6 minutes in their last field goal drive..... this drive .. 3 runs, 3 plays for 5 yards and 2 minutes off the clock. Vols punt.

5th drive: Only 46 seconds remain in the game. Vols use 3 plays to run out the clock. Vols win! Tennessee 17, Alabama 13.

South Carolina's defense is pretty good too. I don't see how the Vols are going to put up 500 yards of offense.... so I guess some of you guys are going to very disappointed after the game.

Just as always, the game will hinge on penalties, turnovers, and field position. The Vols defense is now playing good enough to keep the Vols in every game. The offense has enough playmakers to pull out the wins. I see this game as being very close.

My prediction: Tennessee 17, South Carolina 10.
