How will we WIN/LOSE?

Close games in the SEC..run hurry up O and grind out yardage with running game and strong O Line. Wear defenses down by the 4th quarter hopefully. Hope we don't kill ourselves with turnovers. IF we don't get some players to step up and make a difference on D especially the secondary that's were we lose the games.

I'm hoping better overall discipline, o-line play and our running game will keep us in games. Then pure heart, something we've lacked for several years, will get us some close wins. I'm hoping.

I would love to see a team fight for four full quarters. We haven't seen that in a while either.

And you probably think we will colonize Mars by years end!
If history is any indicator of future performance, we will hardly be churning up 1st downs and have a dominating "D." I hope we improve, but we are 2-3 years away from those expectations.

You got me. I am hoping my spot on Mars would be ready by football season so I could watch some games up there.

Without Vereen our pass rush will struggle which means our DBs who are already very thin will have a rough time. Therefore our passing defense will be bad, rushing defense average.
On offense, look for the run to be effective. We may not have the best RBs but with this OL we will win a few battles in the trenches. Our passing attack will be average at best with our new QB and receivers.
+ Running offense and defense
- Passing offense and defense

If anyone watched Dooleys team perform it was clear he was not able to coach our team to major wins. There are many factors that contribute to that fact, but neglecting talent because we didn't have that much, we ALMOST pulled out some huge victories that would have changed Dooleys career at Tennessee possibly. So to look into other characteristics and intangibles, I am thinking butch can coach this team to have full game endurance, and leadership. With some growing pains that will happen to cause us to lose some games, our team should pullout some big wins with what this coaching staff is bringing to the table.

I will always be your first "like". Remember this day.

UT will show improvement on D and in the running game. This is why I didnt understand those that wanted to see Bray leave this year...imagine TB with a solid running attack and a decent D...minus the beer bottles and Dools crap. Personally I think the D could be pretty good and even sorta expect the pass D to benefit from the 4 man front. "On paper" we prolly do have top 20-30 talent given we have consistently recruited there over the past several years. That is better than any cincy team CBJ had, although I understand its a new team in a new league for him. We will lose close games but win more than we did last year and make a bowl, I mean we only need to scrape out 3 or at most 4 conference wins to get there. UK, Mizzou, Vandy and one upset perhaps?

I love how everyone says the loss of a freshman DE means the defense, especially the pass rush, are going to suck. Vereen was certainly doing well in the Spring and in Fall Camp, but we have no idea how he was going to do in the games, especially down the stretch when many freshmen get worn out by the pressure. Our DL will rely on the seniors and those seniors are tired of losing.

My concern is will UT have any type of vertical passing game? Yes we may have a short passing game and a good running game, but is very difficult to sustain a 70 or 80 yard drive w/o big plays (vertical passing game).

Had a pretty good vertical game last year....so I'm ok if we don't have one this year. There aren't many guys that throw the deep ball as well as Bray. I'm ready to see some running and short passes.

Very true York.

I actually think the offense will be pretty good by the end of the year. Skill position players can develop quickly behind a line like UT's. But that defense needs work and - I'm sorry - I still have reservations about Jancek and Willie "Senor Score" Martinez coming here. Not a good feeling. Hope Butch can coach up both sides of the ball.

How can anybody take you serious with a username like that?
