Hendon Hooker was an excellent QB and the 2022 team generally did better at away games than 2024. Thoughts?

They did? The 2022 team got spanked twice on the road.

They probably would have lost a shootout. The 2024 defense had trouble with Ohio St's WRs...can't imagine how badly the 2022 defense would have struggled.

They beat LSU and Pitt on the road and shut out Vandy. They still certainly had road struggles, but they were the best road team Heupel has had by far.

Ohio State would have beat the absolute hell out of them. That defense was far worse than what we currently have. The offense probably scores more points but we lose that game. Idk that people are realizing how good that freshman wr is on Ohio State; the guy is a top ten pick if he came out today.

We would've score more than 17, both teams would've been airing it out so a high scoring game.
May would've came down to who got lucky

Our 2022 pass defense ranking was not even top 100.

Ohio State's pass offense ranking this year was in the top 10.

It would not have been a pretty sight in our secondary.

That was just an OK Pitt team that took us to OT, and Vandy was a complete joke that year (and it isn't even a real road game). This year's team beat an OU team in Norman that ended up beating Alabama, and beat a much better Vandy team in Nashville.

That might have been the best road team Heup has had here, but not by far, and all of them have been bad.

I agree with you that it wasn’t a great road team. But beating LSU, Pitt, and Vandy that year is way better than beating OU and Vandy this year. I know those two teams beat Bama, but Bama isn’t very good this year.

I think It was Mel Kiper Jr who said he would be the top pick in this years draft if he was eligible. The kid has size, the physique, strength, and the intangibles to be an elite NFL player. I hope he stays healthy as he could be the best college receiver, ever.

We would have showed up for the game and ready to play. I think it would have been a close game with the winner being the team with the fewest turnovers.

Hooker & Hyatt were excellent and the two (double digit) losses that year were on the road @UGA & @South Carolina.
The 22 Tennessee defense was not even close to being ready for what 24 OSU has on offense. Our corners would be even more torched than this year's were.
The 24 OSU's defense doesn't have many holes. Knowles has coached against our style offense for years. He wasn't even slightly caught off guard by what we were doing. He would not have been shocked by our 22 offense either.

56-21 Walnuts. Late score by us.

We just are not that talented from a top to bottom perspective. We need multiple athletes and playmakers. Then we'll be ready.

OSU’s QB would have had a Heisman day throwing for nearly 500 yards against that “no-turn-to-look” defensive backfield.

Nobody "turned and looked" against Jeremiah Smith on 3 different occasions last week. That's because their asses were roasted straight off of the line. First Gibson and then McCoy never turned and saw the ball in the air. Two touchdowns. Even on Brooks interception in the endzone, Arian Carter was on Smith in coverage and he never "turned and looked".

None of the three ever saw the play. It all happened right over their heads.

He turned 19 recently actually. That being said, how he was not even top three freshman of the year blows my mind, or in the top We conversation. . .

He's terrifying and also nice to watch from a pure football perspective

Not sure why I thought he was younger. Thanks for correction. He’s a beast!
