Y'all do know Heupel was dumped as OC at OU and replaced by Lincoln Riley, right?

Heupel’s play calling was predictable and becoming stale. Played too conservative at times.

Having been out here for the 2014 season, I'm not sure this statement is entirely accurate.

OU was rebuilding that year, but still put up some significant numbers offensively. Unfortunately, they just had better teams out there and the defense was not doing them any favors either... but it certainly helps when your brother is head coach.

Anyway, both he and Jay Norvell were co-OCs and fired in the same year making way for a young, brilliant OC to come in. The thing is, had OU had a semi-decent defense (and they didn't until Mike Stoops got fired) they possibly could have flipped a few of those games that year. The points were there for at least three wins but when you're not playing defense, it practically comes down to whomever had the ball last.

If anyone is to blame for the 2014 season, it really was Bog Game Bob and his brother.

Mike Stoops is on the defensive side of the ball. I don't know why he would be "sacrificed" in that regard.
Also Bob's brother, needed to respond to downturn. Basic scapegoating, not uncommon, no? Or, am I off base here?

I'm in Lone Wolf, OK...far from the glitter and glam.

Ah, never mind. I missed the point you were making. Yes, Mike could have/should have shared in that blame.

Mike Stoops held on way, way, way too long because of his brother. I honestly think Lincoln was afraid to get rid of him as well since Bob still had a lot of influence over the program even after his "retirement."

I WAS there. Been a fan since ‘68.
Significant numbers? Heupel claims they were a top 10 offense that year. His words. They were 24th in total, 21st scoring (nationally). Fourth best in the Big 12. Fourth best. In the Big 12. They wouldn’t even let Knight run the ball in some games. C’mon. Yes, Mike Stoops should have never been rehired. Venables was 10x the better DC. Hell, 100x.

Trevor Knight running looked like a garbage truck trying to get away from a Formula 1 racer. But again, it was a rebuilding year.
