Ugh. Wrong image file. My apologies.

Let me see if I can find one that makes a little more sense in the context of grading a coach before he's had time to remember the name of the street he now lives on. Do I want to go with this one:

or this one?

Coach Butch Jones Thus Far.

I'm going to rank him better than a 97. I understand we haven't seen the coaching abilities but the enthusiam he has brought so far is a positive sign of good things to come. From people i've talked to that attend UT seems the players really like him and the staff. GBO :good!:

I ranked him greater than 90 because he looked nice in his suit at the presser and seemed to have a lovely family. He has also gone onto television and radio a few times and handled himself quite well.

Of course, this has nothing to do whatsoever with his success as a football coach at the University of Tennessee, but being that it is all we have to judge him on, I'm going with it.

I went with 80-90. I am excited with what I've seen so far, but really until NSD has come and gone, we just don't know. I do like the attitude that seems to be developing though. Love the cross country road trips to see recruits too.

I think I'm the only one who wasn't impressed by the presser. It was generic, and seemed scripted by the AD. I've liked pretty much everything else.

It is too early, but I like his style, his former players have good things to say about him, but it is just too early for me........

The only thing he's actually done here so far is hire a staff. Based solely on that, I'd say 70<. Hoping that rating rises come signing day (but so far, it's not looking too good).

Witch Doctor went 60 and is very concerned about this staffs recruiting abilities. not too too negative but very very concerned. WE aint chasing any big dogs and the only "stars" are what Dooley and Jay G had lined up. Not a star gazer but you GOT to offer instead of throwing a party over a Juco VB player(hope he is Witten Jr) besides who we had already ...they aint burning any doors down.. still early yes..but concerned

I'm not sure what I would rate him at this point, but I do like what I see. I am employed at Arizona State U and I am seeing some parallels with what ASU Football went through last year.....

ASU football 2011 - beats USC - huge expectations - crash and burns the last half of the season - and gets killed by Boise State in a Bowl game. (Expected to win the PAC 12 South) - Erikson fired. Starting QB declares for the draft after his jr year. Receiving corp depleted. Best defensive player - who under performed his jr year also leaves/declares for the draft.

ASU's coaching search seemed to go longer than any of us wanted. Finally after "missing" on several names that the community wanted - i.e. Sumlin, etc. ASU hired Graham. Who??? The coach that just ditched his players at Pitt after one year?
Coach Graham was not well known by the ASU fan base or community. He came in last year and hit the ground running - met the public - shook hands - and worked his a$$ off in PR with the community. He brought is much needed discipline to a team that was lacking it. His players bought in to his system (I am an academic advisor to a few players). In his 1st season at ASU - A season with little expectations for a team to do anything - ASU finished 8-5; beat/upset its in-state rival; and killed Navy in the bowl game.

Jones seems to be doing at Tennessee what Graham came in to ASU doing - winning over the fans/community/players.

I know "its the SEC" - but I'm seeing and hoping for a similiar trajectory with the VOLS this coming year as I have seen with the Sun Devils over the past year.

Just my humble take......
