Howard's Rock Vandalized

Weird how every source I link mentions it's superiority to Tennessee's sad little intro, then.

You linked to a ranking that had it two sports ahead of running through the T and one spot behind A&M's yell practice. If you think that's conclusive proof then it's no wonder you're befuddled by balloons.

I thought you guys were kidding about balloons. They really have balloons? Do Barney the Dinosaur and Ronald MacDonald lead the team onto the field too?

Huh? Are you serious?

It sets em off into a frenzy. People start passing out like their on stage with Benny Hinn. Its quiet the spectacle.

You need to remember where you are and dial back the troll factor if you're planning to keep posting here.

I'm not sure the word "trolling" applies all that well to my explaining the importance/superiority of Running Down the Hill in a thread regarding Howard's Rock located in the Around the NCAA forum.

You can make up all the crap you want about how "the vast majority of people" would prefer to watch a team they don't care about getting out of a bus and running down a hill to a team they don't care about running out of a tunnel through a letter formed by a band. If you're dumb enough to think there's a difference, then feel free to argue it; there's no rule against being stupid on here. But there is a rule about other teams' fans at least being semi-respectful to the home team on here. You have stopped being so in this thread.

It's like he's trying to get banned on purpose.

Your custom user title contains the word "troll." Let's keep things in perspective.

I'm merely questioning whether defending Clemson's tradition in a thread about Clemson's rock is actually "trolling." The forum guidelines are a little ambiguous and make it seem as if only non-Tennessee fans can be trolls, which isn't the most nuanced understanding of the term or concept.

I honestly just watched their running down the hill for the first time and was laughing so hard. Looked so amateur. I was waiting for them to run through a paper banner like a high school team. What a joke to suggest its better than running through the T.

Yet I'm one of the more respected rival posters here.

Perhaps it's because I can have an opposing point of view (and I often do) without taking unnecessary swipes at the locals, especially when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Maybe it's you who lacks perspective...you were being an a$$ and got called out on it.

You're absolutely right. I should have just said that Howard's Rock is wonderful and an integral part of the greatest pregame tradition in college football.

Of course, the next post would have been someone questioning that statement because, obviously, Running Through the T is the best thing ever. And, naturally, I would have responded that it isn't and provided links and...

Well, would you look at that! This thread would have turned out the same way regardless of the phrasing of my initial post!

Please allow me to clarify. Tennessee fans get dumped here all the time for trolling, by which we generally mean here to start fights rather than here to engage in quality discussion. Other teams' fans are subject to the same rule, with the additional stipulation that they need to at least be semi-respectful to the home team while they're arguing with the rest of us. When that line gets crossed is up to the moderators.

As it turns out, I happen to be a moderator myself, and all I'm asking you to is back off the general crapping on UT you started doing in this thread. If that strikes you as arbitrary or unfair, then you should probably ahead and go back to one of your own several teams' boards and save us all the effort of the infraction/infraction/vacation/ban process. We're far more lenient to rival fans than most other boards, so if this is too fascistic for you, then you probably need to stay in a Clemson/Louisville echo chamber.

Had you posted that, I still would have disagreed, based on my travels over the past 30 years.

How many stadiums have you visited? How many traditions from other schools have you experienced first hand?

His links or basically other peoples opinion, should override your personal experience and opinion and you should recant.

Yeah, now I understand why you're posting all those links. You need to check out more venues.

Based on your list, you've never experienced...
- LSU's band playing the first four notes of "Hold That Tiger" on a Saturday night
- War Eagle in flight at Jordan-Hare
- Chief Osceola planting his spear on the 50 at Doak Campbell
- The 1980s Miami Hurricanes running through the smoke at the old Orange Bowl
- "This is Alabama Football"
- Script Ohio or Double Script Ohio

In my opinion, based on my travels, all of the above blow away Clemson's team getting off a bus, standing at the top of a hil for a couple minutes, touching a rock, then running down the hill.

Before I die I want to see Ralphie the Buffalo do his thing in Boulder, and Michigan State's band do the kickstep in East Lansing.

I was at the Peach Bowl game with a friend. I was cheering for UT since my friend is a UT fan. I couldn't believe Maryland won the way they did. That's when I really started to suspect that UT maybe in for a rough couple of years coming up.

On a side note, Woodstock, I got to attend Johnny Hunt's Men's Conference back in February. FBCW is easily the largest church I've ever been to. I was amazed at the size of it. Random, but just thought I'd toss that out there since you're in Woodstock.

That's cool thanks for telling Me. I'll look into it,thinking of starting to go back to Church(I've fallen off and haven't been in over a year). I started to wonder about the direction of the football program when a 6-6 Clemson team ripped up Tennessee in the 2003 Peach Bowl.
