One of my students told me today that she currently has 15 of the 16 Sweet 16 teams. She said she was in the upper 99.9 percent (or something like that) worldwide. I asked her what her method for picking was. She said "drinking."

Over-thinking probably is a very strong correlating factor with bad picks.

While we can generally figure out who are legitimate national title contenders, the rest, for the most part, are all just crap shoots. Someone who randomly fills out his or her bracket is probably just as likely to score as high as someone who approaches it "educatedly."

This is why I stopped doing Fantasy Football a decade ago, when, to fill out our league, the commissioner let his wife play. She ended up winning the league despite never having subbed anyone on her roster the whole season. Oh, and her drafts were auto-chosen by the computer as "best available player."

Statistically speaking, it is far more probable to guess most of the final four with a high level of confidence. From there to the championship, however, the difficulty in picking a champion is often just as difficult than with a full complement of 68 teams.

I went 4-4 tonight..top half of my bracket looks really good..if only Virginia had showed up those first 5 minutes vs MSU..lots of people took Michigan State as final four team as a 7 seed

I'm now 6-6 for the Elite 8..I can get 7-8 if Duke wins..would like to see Okla win..I doubt many picked them to make it

Hmmm? Still have 3 of the final 4! Kentucky, Wisconsin, Gonzaga. Need Duke to lose agaisnt Gonzaga! In women's, still have 7 of the Elite 8! Only loser was Kentucky. Dayton now plays UCionn and won't have a chance! Lady Huskies win it all!
