Lost a lot of respect for them. Though I recognize they are biased, I always thought they had pretty decent integrity. Not so much anymore.

....The Huffington Post was pushing just this last week when it deliberately published a photoshopped receipt that had a 1% tip (from a "banker") and the demeaning message “Get a real job!”. This put-up job was obvious to any sentient reader. Huffpo is now up to their 3rd correction on this item and are advancing to the rear more rapidly than Brave Sir Robin from the Monty Python skit. Blogs linked by Huffpo haven’t been quite as Orwellian in their scrubbing process. Eater.com gives us a better taste of the original reporting that went into this breath-taking exclusive of a propagandic exercise.

There's way too much out there to be current on it all, LOL. Believe it or not, I rely a lot on VN for news (not in terms of accuracy, but just the fact that a lot of current events are brought to my attention here). I didn't see a thread for this, so I figured nobody knew about it.

HuffPo or CBS doing a story right before the election with counterfeit documents is just an "oopsie". Breitbart, etc. are mean, pernicious, vile hate mongers who blatantly lie to promote their agenda.

Did I get that right?

I thought that was an example of acting doofusy. Could be wrong, though.

Methinks if this had been Drudge or Breitbart your attitude would be different. Just a hunch.

What I see here first is Huffpo doing quite a lengthy story on how this happened.

What I see here second is a thread about it, omitting this critical fact.

What I suspect is that OP just grabbed this off some right wing blog, which is not interested in giving all of the facts for the very purpose of making it appear that things are different than they are.

And in that respect the Breitbart approach lives, obv.

Are you missing the fact that the original HuffPo story had none of the explanation? The are back pedaling to explain why they ran the story as if it were real. Likewise, the CNN story by Soledad was presented as truth.

I agree, with the inclusion as NPR as the second favorite.

Don't bring up NPR around these parts. They will pick it apart. The Daily Show had a really good story comparing NPR to say, Limbaugh. And bear in mind, this was during the Right's outrage that a 'liberal biased' network was receiving funding from the government.

As has already been pointed out, what was in the original story?

Um, are you saying NPR isn't slanted left?

no issue with NPR execs getting caught in a sting trying to hide funding from a terrorist organization?

or silencing NPR personalities who appear on fox news?

Um, are you saying NPR isn't slanted left?

Jon Stewart literally went over this. He was on his way home from work and was flipping the radio dial between Rush and NPR. Rush was blabbering on about how the current administration is going to destroy our country and so on and so forth, while NPR had a feature story about quilts. They are not nearly as biased as some make it out to be. They report quality news. But do continue watching Faux News, as they are a shining beacon of light.

Well, if Jon Stewart says it, case closed.

Comparing the two doesn't even make sense. NPR is a news reporting organinzation, Limbaugh is a commentator. Not sure why Stewart would make the link other than it's a cheap way to make a point.

NPR does excel journalism but the do have a left slant - more along the lines of being a voice for those without a voice. Nothing wrong with that.
