that would be amazing if that were to happen!..But i'm sure that USC would get someone just as good.

I don't know about this. Maybe they should have waited a little while for the shock of the USC kicker dying to wear off. I think it would be kind of awkward for Carroll to announce that he's leaving the program too soon after a tragedy like that. He's a classy guy, though. I'm sure he'll handle the situation appropriately.

USC also hasn't had the greatest track record. They struck gold with Carroll though.

Kim Bokamper, former Dolphin LB and one of the show's hosts, said that Dolphins officials aren't optimistic, but felt they had to give it a shot.

I would guess he is on every NFL team's board somewhere. The news is that Carroll granted the interview.

The names Larry Smith and Paul Hackett come to mind.

Except for a year here and there, pretty much everybody after John Robinson - including John Robinson Part Deaux - was lackluster prior to Carroll.

The thing with Carroll that's different than the rest of the college coaches aspiring to the NFL is that he's already been around the block. He's done the NFL thing and knows his situation at USC is as close to perfect as it gets. Long-term employment with USC with the success he's had could very well vault him to legendary status -- I'm talking one of the best of all-time.

I would be shocked to ever see Pete Carroll back on an NFL sideline.

The funny thing is, the LA press killed Mike Garrett for hiring Carroll.
Left coast college football media can suck, a lot. You have your occasional Colin Cowherds, but realistically, take into consideration the blasting of USC for hiring Carroll, the treatment of Mike Riley, Mike Belotti, Jeff Tedford, etc.

i would be too. however I'm shocked if he really is granting even an interview. plus how bad would the falcons look hiring petrino while the fins pick up carroll? (not that i have faith in either as an NFL guy)
