Why would he leave a really stable career/business in the perfect geographic location to get back in the topsy-turvy, instable world of college athletics?especially if his son sign a contract in a few weeks.

I know Slim reads these boards and he's probably horse laughing at the idea of coming back.

As I remember it he wanted the job when CDS came back but compliance stopped it.

Was that true or just message board bs??

I was too...but, you know after thinking about it, if they don't turn it around next year, he can go right back to his business...he's not moving his family...might get to coach his son...I just hope it works out for all involved.

When i think about the interview CDS did the other day, the type guy he wanted, it sounded like Simcox to me...SEC experience, ties to the region, contacts with coaches...who the heck else could he get for what may turn out to be a year. The timing of this with the draft and all...surely that has something to do with it.

My guess would be there is a lot of compliance issues to clear up before the hire can be made official

I've been pleasantly surprised with D1 Baseball this year. Whoever backed the site and hired Fitt, Rogers and the others did a great job. I give them an A+ this year and expect it will only get better in the years to come. NCAA baseball needed this for a long time........
