Question: Are the winners of the play-in games automatically 16 seeds? I was just thinking, although obviously we want the highest possible seed, if the Vols somehow went in as a 16, I would imagine they would stand a pretty decent chance of becoming the first 16 to ever knock off a 1. We are totally capable of beating a 1 seed if we're peaking as we were over the 6-game streak. That said, here's hoping of course we get in as no less than a 14, even without winning the tourney.
We should beat them by 10 or more, auburn is pretty bad. I think the Georgia game could be a blessing in surprise as we will get on another 4 game win streak. Aub tonight, mizzou @ home and 2 gms in the tournament and barely sneak into the NCAA tournament.
Go Vols!
The play in games are reserved typically for the last 4 in, it usually is 12 seeds or there abouts, we won't be a 16...14 is actually very unlikely, 13 seed is likely the worst seed possible we would get.
Not that worried about what the other teams do; just hope we take care of business.Mods feel free to merge, I'm just super pumped for a big night of basketball, thought it deserved it's own thread.
As many know, UT currently sits as the last team in according to Joe Lunardi, and is the first team out according to bracket matrix. So regardless how you feel about their standing, without being exact we can say they're in the first four out or better group.
Well obviously Tennessee plays tonight, and that's where the focus needs to start obviously, gotta win that or none of the bubble talk matters. However, as fans we can watch the other bubble games and get excited, with that said, what a night for college basketball.
I don't know where you're located, but here in Knoxville it's cold and snowing...get you a pizza, a 12 pack and watch some good college ball that are meaningful games for Tennessee from about 7pm-1am. Here's the list of impact full games tonight...4 of these are teams are right in front of us, so it's plausible if we win tonight we could move firmly into most bracket projections and not the last four in/first four out group.
GAMES OF INTEREST 3/6/13
team in bold is who you should be rooting FOR.
9pm TENNESSEE @ Auburn
7pm Oklahoma St. @ Iowa State
7pm North Carolina @ Maryland
7pm Georgetown @ Villanova
7pm Temple @ Fordham
7pm George Washinhton @ La Salle
9pm West Virginia @ Oklahoma
11pm Stanford @ Cal
I plan on also using this as basically a running game thread for the games tonight, for anyone that also is planning on watching or looking for scores/updates.
GBO!!!
Okay right, I seem to remember now VCU's final 4 run a couple years ago, were they not a play-in team and went in as a 12 seed?
bTO, if we win these last 2 and lost in the 2nd round of the SEC tourney, do you still think we could go in as high as a 12?
Also, if we lost to Missouri coupled with a tourney loss, do you think we'd stand any chance at all of getting in with 13 losses? Last year, we didn't get in with 12 total losses, but I think our RPI was somewhat lower.
