Our admin and the BOT are incredibly left leaning politicians. Many of them probably hate football and only allow it because it brings in money.
As always, he’s too stubborn and too slow to make a change.
The administration would never allow Freeze at UT. They wouldn’t even let Pruitt hire him as OC.
The commissioner of agriculture serves by virtue of being commissioner because of the UT agriculture extension offices. Whoever he commissioner is, he or she always is on the BOT. The only person on the BOT who is a republican politician is Jamie Woodson, and she was moderate as a state senator, having voted more than once to keep democrat John Wilder as speaker. Most boards like this rely heavily on their staff, who are part of the university apparatus. I can't speak to the leanings of any of the current CEOs on UT's BOT, but a quick look at corporate America and where they're putting their money in terms of social justice messaging and political contributions does not support the idea that most corporate CEOs are conservative.Have you done research on this or just speculating on the BOT? Considering the current board is made up of mostly current and former CEO's of big companies, I am guessing the latter. A current member is also the state's Commissioner of Agriculture (appointed by Lee), who has been a veterinarian and farmer his entire life. Then, you had Brad Lampley, a former player under Fulmer, who rolled off in 2018.

probably a different discussion for a different forum, but I generally define wealthy as being able to live however you want without working. Most of the wealthy people I know are liberals. I don't really think of someone with a double mortgage on a suburban mcmansion and a couple of leased luxury vehicles in the garage as wealthy, although most of the people I know in that situation are conservatives.Yes, I read that about the Commissioner of Agriculture, but specifically, the last 10 years for that position would have been appointed by a Republican governor. As I stated, the one in place today has been a veterinarian and a farmer his entire life. That doesn't scream liberal.
While I certainly don't want to make generalizations, more CEO's personally lean conservative, especially those that are based in East TN or that have connections to East TN. I don't believe the mere donations to social causes makes a leader of the company lean a certain way.
Generally, TN politics are closer toward the center than compared to the country. While you are probably correct that the BOT relies on the university staff, I just thought it was an unfounded statement. I just don't believe most UT BOT members are "incredibly left leaning politicians."
