Hurts, Tua and Jones

I’m think Mac Jones will be the best if them. But I do ageee with op’s point. Those guys got drafted because bama has like 59 former 5 star players around them and barely lost any games. I don’t think Bryce young is that good at all. If he was on our team nobody would be talking about him.
It wasn’t that way for the longest with bama. None of their qb shot drafted. But then they brought in lane kiffin and started focusing more on offense than defense and it flipped. They were all definitely a product of the team.

The amazing thing to me is that Tua being a product of their team was so obvious. IMO, there isn't any attribute or skill he has that leaps off the page. Lacks size. Mediocre arm strength and accuracy. It seemed like every throw he made in college was to a WR who didn't have a defender within 10 feet of him and he ran 50 yards for a TD.

They have switched to more of a spread/passing offense since Tua was recruited, so their QBs get more attention. McElroy, Coker, McCarron, etc. could have probably put up similar production in these offenses but they were run-first in those days.

I could be successful playing qb at bama. When you never get touched or pressured because you are playing for the best offensive line in the nation AND you are throwing to the best receivers in the nation that seem to always be open you look great. Not to say they aren't good players because they are. But, there is a reason that there aren't more stars in the NFL that played at bama in proportion to the number of 5 stars they recruit every year.
