Hyams on radio qb situation

Worley probably doesn't have Crompton's physical talent but he does have a better "head".

Agree on the Worley hate though. It is alot simpler for some folks apparently to blame the QB than to actually consider a more complex problem that includes OC's, philosophies of play/scheme/program building, WR's, TE's, RB's, OL's... Nah, much easier to just say "Worley sucks" and believe that someone beating him out is the magic bullet.

I tend to agree with this. The better WR and TE talent should help Worley out if they catch on pretty fast. Very young players are going to have to step up and help the QB. Way to many drops last year, and very limited production from the TE position.

If Hyams was talking about 2005 he had a good case. I'm not sure if Ainge's off the field problems were surfacing that year or not but his performance was awful (66 -145, 737 yards, 5 TD's 7 Int's)...and who could forget that play in the end zone vs LSU?

Ainge should have been handed the reins.

Why does everyone hate on Worley? The kid has talent! And has shown flashes of it last year. He just hasn't been given a real chance to prove it. He was a result of the Dooley regime and different coaches and coordinators. Then Butch comes in with a COMPLETELY different system and he is asked to learn it and be proficient after a few months? I firmly believe he will flourish this year once he gets familiar with the playbook and system.
Just look at Crompton. How many people hated him and wanted him gone, but by the end of his Sr Year, you were sad to see him leave?? Bring on Worley while the younguns learn under him.

Nobody was sad to see crompton leave, he was awful and it isnt even close.

How do you know? Because all 5 starters aren't Seniors and future pros? Everyone got hung up on the size and talent of last year's line, but I was never truly impressed with them. I don't think we will see as big of a dip as everyone thinks. The kids this year know they have big shoes to fill and will give 110% effort to prove the cynics wrong!:clapping:

they are going to be different for sure,i'm leaning toward a nasty attitude for the run game and i am hoping they pick up the pass blocking in a hurry

once they get some game experience behind them, they will have to improve or CBJ will be happy he has 4 QBs

come to think of it,hopefully the Defense line is playing that good

I'm sure Hymes has been wrong before, but I also think he knows more about what's going on with the team more than just the some of these people who sit at home in front of their computer and speculate

Yeah, I think that's a more than fair statement. Pretty sure he has a better feel for the QB situation than the guy on here who says it's between Peterman and Dobbs right now partly because Worley is a "wildcard".

If Worley is a clear number 1, I firmly believe Butch would have said so. Also if true we are in trouble out of the box.

Well if he's the best then we will be in even more trouble if we start anyone else. Honestly I am to the point that I could careless who starts as long as we win.

Truth is, it doesn't matter who the #1 qb is. The o line is going to be so porous this year that whoever he is, he will likely be hurt by mid season. #2 and possibly #3 will finish the season.

You have no idea how they will gel man. Not calling you a negavol or fake fan but man! Give them a chance to f up before you declare them a wash.

Has Worley improved from last year, what does people think can he get the job done or is he just the best of what we got?

Jimmy reporting that Jerry Colquitt is the clear starter for now, with Todd Helton as the number two. It i expected however that Helton will leave to focus on baseball, leaving a lively battle between incoming freshmen Brandon Stewart and Peyton Manning for the backup role.

At times before Worley got hurt he did do some good things plus real young with a year under his belt, maybe he will pull a Crompton remember Crompton could not hit a barn then it seem like overnight turned into a top QB in the SEC.

I had a great Todd Helton joke that came to mind as soon as I saw the thread title and get to the last page and see you have stolen it.

So insert AJ Suggs/ Joey Matthews joke here.

I'm really pulling for Worley. As much as I like Dobbs and Ferguson's potential, I thought Worley did a good job of managing games, for the most part (although it did seem like he played it TOO safe at times).

Maybe I'm old school by thinking this way, but the longer young QBs stay on the sideline, the better they'll be when it's their turn. I hate rushing young signal callers out there, and Dobbs and Ferguson are still very young.

Worley only has about 12 starts under his belt, if my memory serves. He was making progress, and the game was slowing down for him before he got hurt. Give him a chance. Give Matt Darr a chance.

I said about a month ago on here that Darr had a lot of leg, based on his high school punting avg. and success in other athletics. I said that he needed to work on his ball drop, and getting the nose of the ball up in the air. I read last week that his punting has drastically improved. Worley will improve. Both have talent, and need some time. Be patient.

Serious undervaluing of senior leadership and overestimating the impact of having a lack of experience being expressed ITT
