Hypothetical 2024 schedule

Back to our normal scheduling. Last year was the exception. Better get used to it. Gonna be even more of a grind going forward.
At least we do not have to pay premium prices to see an OVC schedule in Neyland. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

They didn't have to play Bama every year? Georgia doesn't have a cross-division rival?
It’s funny. You have to be very dense to not recognize that Tennessee has had the hardest road to getting to the conference title the past decade plus. You’ve got Bama every year as your cross division rival. Your cross division game is against the best team in the country year in and out over the past decade. So you’re in a hole automatically when it comes to trying to win the East.

I'm sure that had absolutely nothing to do with us being terrible. The whole West has to play Bama every year....and LSU.....and Ole Miss....and A&M....and Auburn. Don't bring up Auburn and A&M being bad now because you said the last decade.

What a first yr for Nico, atleast we will have a few recruiting classes ready for that gauntlet

Lsu and auburn my gawd, in the same Effin year that is def gona be the toughest top 3 schedule if that's a correct schedule, we owe beating to auburn and Arkansas and ole miss, might as well do it in the same yr

Yeah this isn't real by any means, I assume just someone speculating. Not sure why Kentucky would get moved to the last game of the year. I also don't think they would just make us essentially play the entire SEC west in a year. I'm sure they'll try to break those up as best as possible.

There won’t be a west or east anymore. I’m guessing they won’t have us pay Texas and Oklahoma on the Dave year and won’t have us play Georgia and Florida in the same year. This projection does that.

It’s just going to be difficult with 9 Conference games. For everyone. This schedule avoids Georgia, Oklahoma, A&M, Missouri, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. Auburn was worse than all of those teams last year.

I know, but I'm just talking about the current east/ west teams. I bet they'll do like USCe and Florida, then Georgia and Missouri the next year. I guess it doesn't help that they we will probably play Kentucky and Vandy every year (as far as balancing that out). Really if they just replace one of auburn or LSU in this projection with either Missouri or south carolina, it'll look more like it should to be. You're right in that we'll get either Texas or Oklahoma in a year.

Don't worry about who or when we play. We just need to avoid injuries and we will be OK.

I’m so tired of this.

At least we don’t play x, y, or z.

If you want Tennessee to be the best they have to beat the best.
Only Auburn has had to play Bama and Georgia every year besides us. Throw in Florida over the last 20 years and I’d say we have a harder path to the Atlanta than almost anyone. Of course Vandy will always have a hard path, but as awesome as it is to say we gotta beat the best to be the best, just remember Ainge vs LSU was our last time in Atlanta. It hasn’t been good for us to play 3 or more top 5 teams each season.

And it’s not a good look to want to not play so and so anymore either.

Tennessee will have to play them eventually and playing a lesser opponent doesent make them any better.

Look at Georgia’s schedule for next season. Probably the easiest path to a championship ever. Look at who they played this year. 2 nattys in a row and because of that, recruiting like mad. Bama also had some very weak schedules during their championships. It matters. Wish Ohio state had made that last field goal!

My brain is still not wired for no divisions...I first looked at your hypothetical schedule and thought "Wait, there's not enough East teams on there..." HAHAHA

That said, I think the SEC going to no divisions evens out the field so to speak and makes it more fair for everyone.
I don't see any of the traditional divisions being 'stronger' than the other anymore (i.e. when the West was rolling with Bama, LSU, AUB, Arky all being hot while the East was pretty much UGA; counter that with when the East was up with FLA, UT, UGA and the West was pretty much MS St and AUB).

There's going to be some great, great football being played in the next few years for sure !!!

We went in 2004 and 2007.

Very few schools had the equivalent of playing Florida, Georgia and Bama in the first 7 games like we did for about 25 years straight. You've got to be national title ready out of the gate. Now, some other teams will have to face that as well.

Despite that, losing to Bama has never cost us the East.

Good grief, what a stretch of games from Florida to LSU!
View attachment 538112
Honestly over that stretch of games what I would love this schedule. What team has more stability than us outside of Bama?? Bama is the only team that we know for a fact is ahead of us in the talent department. A lot will change before then but based off the current trajectory of teams on this schedule we'll be better than everyone except Bama. Even Bama might be considered an equal in 2 years.
