Seems that way. Auburn about to have an ugly early conference loss. Kentucky is struggling. And Arkansas has already lost one starter to a season-ending injury and Nick Smith Jr. is out indefinitely. Starting to look like it actually might be Alabama and Tennessee if Arkansas can’t get healthy.

Auburn, Kentucky, and Missouri are a notch below the top three. After that, its LSU, Mississippi State and possibly Florida, then everyone else...

The chance of a "just like football" chant in TBA is very appealing...

At a glance UGA has the same record as Auburn so it’s easy to think that road loss isn’t that bad, at least until you look and see that 11-3 UGA record is mostly due to feasting on Quad 4 with UGA being 8-0 against Quad 4.

We are about to have another uplifting turn of events to help us.

Just as JJJ has sparked us for January, I can see JP providing the second spark in Feb. that will launch
UT into an area it has never reached in NCAAT history (not to mention Awaka's continued development)!

FF on the way?

If we start playing offense consistently like last night and keep playing D, it's gonna be TN and everyone else!

Shooting near 70%?? I wonder what things will look like with us shooting a more realistic 40-45%. When this starts to happen (like next game) I hope our stellar "D" can limit opponent to 30% or so.

Add Mo. and never count out KY. It's a long season from here til April.

Kentucky, sure. Missouri? No. I think people are making too much of their win versus Kentucky. Their only other good win is against Illinois and that team is a hot mess of epic proportions right now. Don't get me wrong, Gates has done a marvelous job in Year 1 so far, and I think Mizzou is in position to be a tournament team. But, they aren't real SEC contenders. After last night, Missouri now is 154th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency in KenPom and 183rd in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency on Barttorvik. You cannot win an 18-game regular season with numbers like that.

There's not a team in the conference we can't beat (if our offense keeps rolling).
Homer officiating notwithstanding.

Team rankings updated projections really have a huge gap between Tennessee/Alabama and everyone else in SEC. They’ve got us 16-2 and Alabama 14-4 and then Arkansas 12-6 and Kentucky 10-8. This obviously takes into account every teams remaining slate which comparatively speaking our SEC draw was pretty sweet this year compared to the teams we are competing with. That home game against Alabama in February could really be a huge as we only play them once this year.

I love the confidence the computers have in this team, but man 16-2 just seems bold and out of reach. It would be unprecedented for this program. I'd love to see it happen, but I just think I feel like 14-4 is more realistic. We're bound to shoot poorly in one game and lose a road contest we probably shouldn't. Maybe it is the BVS in me speaking more than anything else. I'd love to see the first 1-seed in program history though.

I’m not surprised. The earliest they were expecting him back was late January. Seemed probably not in his best interest to try and play not completely healthy for one month of the season. Good for Tennessee though!

Had no idea he was the #1 player in the 22 class. This freshman class, outside of a few guys, has seemed to be kinda underwhelming.

Also didn't realize Trevon Brazile tore his ACL - I wasn't looking forward to whatever Dominique Wilkins esque dunk he had ready for us.

Yeah, Arkansas has had terrible luck with injuries this year. If not for Brazile and Smith going down, they likely are the most talented roster in the SEC and a national title favorite. Now? They are just a good team, not a great team, IMO.

Hard to see Arkansas getting past the first weekend without Brazile and Smith.

I don’t know. I’m not counting them out yet. They picked up a good win last night and I still think they are a 4 or 5 seed as their floor. I can easily see this team make the Sweet 16. Tons of talent still on that roster if they can figure it out, and as much as I hate to say it, Muss to this point has been the best March coach in the SEC in his brief time here.
