he can flat out coach basketball. His locker room speech on being tough when adversity strikes was outstanding today.

Plus, it’s always nice seeing The Garden with a great atmosphere for college hoops so I enjoy seeing St John’s being a factor again. I’d love for us to do a home & home with the Johnnies in the very near future.

Helluva coach. I know nothing of his character, just what was said. I don't think Pitino's guilt was ever proven, and we all wish we had cleaner slates. Somebody believed in him, and it paid off big .

Would our game be at the garden if we played OOC?? Asking cause don’t they only play conference games in the garden?? Did that end with the big East changing?? So many questions I have for this. Like do they play big OOC games there??? For as much as I love me some St. John’s Basketball, I have absolutely no clue

Just to recap :

A Louisville staffer, who was hired by Rick Pitino, arranged for prostitutes to have sex with Louisville basketball players and recruits in Louisville's basketball dorm. Louisville self-imposed a post-season ban and vacated the 2013 National Championship as a result.

If you want to simply say that Rick Pitino is a great coach? Yeah .... he sure is. However, it also seems like you're wanting to downplay his role in the Louisville scandal. Those were not your garden variety rule violations that Louisville's basketball program was implicated in, and Pitino was their head coach.

Somebody (St. John's) desperately wanted to win, and saw a unique opportunity to hire a great coach, who would have had no interest in their job, before his reputation was tarnished by a series of scandals.

You did even mention the worst of what he did at Louisville—getting a woman pregnant and pushing & paying for her to get an abortion.

I just don't get why it is so passe to use that language as the norm.. If you need to throw out F bombs, you have failed in your presentation. I'll take Coach Barnes.

Never knew the specifics. Unless all of those recruits were seniors in their last semester or so of high school, he arranged for 17-year-old boys to be statutorily raped.

Not only any school would hire him but a CATHOLIC institution.

You would expect schools like Auburn and Ole Miss to hire any sleazebag like they did but for a highly regarded Catholic one ?

I understand what you’re saying from a moral perspective, but I’d guess about 99.9% of coaches would disagree with you on this.

Top ten all time coach, maybe top five.
Being the only coach to lead 3 different teams to the final four and 2 different teams to a National Championship probably makes him top 5. Not to be forgotten, he was exiled from coaching and went to Greece and took over a team with a losing record and won back to back Greece league championships.
