I’ve seen enough of Joey Halzle

Basilio said there is only one HS guy Elarbee has recruited that is actually playing SEC ball. Addison Nichols.
And essentially said he xferred so he could develop better. I’m sure playing time is always an issue and he was behind other guys, but there is clearly a lack of development problem here.

If huepel is trying to protect Nico, he is stunting his growth, but the oline is atrocious

Bobby Petrino embarrassed them all tonight, Martinez should be in the unemployment line Monday morning, the secondary under him is sub SEC caliber, has been that way when he was here with Botch Jones and hasn't improved at all since he's been here with Heupel, the secondary is lost, the defensive backs do not turn around to make a play, their technique is piss poor, they can't tackle in the open field, poor quarterbacks make them look good, average quarterbacks make them look pedestrian,

Defense had two really bad drives given up at crictial times.

but it’s always gonna be on the offense if you lose giving up less than in 20 in todays football. Period.

Defenses have figured out how to beat the system with zone coverage and Josh needs a dynamic runner to get the RPO game going.

Nico is capable with his legs, more designed runs would be nice. I get it, if he gets hurt, we’re screwed. But season is on the line every game now. Quit playing scared.

Most of us couch coaches knew what our offense was going to do before the play was called....There was the famous up the middle for maybe 2 yard gain, the famous sideway pass for a couple yards, the always crowd pleasing false start, Nico trying to find an open receiver, but often failing to succeed....And the last play of the game trying to run for 20 plus yards, instead of at least throwing the ball into the endzone for a possible miracle play....

We've all seen this show way too many times.

Exactly. This offense was, once upon a time, designed to put up 30+ points per game even against better teams.

The bigger problem is heupel wont do anything. Look at Martinez. He's to nice and lacks the balls make these tough decisions. I suspect it’s why his teams are always incredibly undisciplined as well.

Doesn’t matter who the OC is. This is on Josh. He trusted Hendon. Is refusing to trust Nico. Unfortunately Nico has given him zero reason to not trust him so honestly just bad coaching. He needs to adjust this offense quickly and figure something out.
Hendon had two speedsters to throw to and there is none on this team. Hendon also was great at running when the protection broke down. Nico is too hesitant. The QB run can also keep the linebackers closer to the line and help create a little more space down field. They used to go 4 wide and send them deep with Hooker running free behind them for good yardage.

Yes, it’s Huepels system and he calls the plays, but Halzle doesn’t get a big salary for scratching his ass and doing nothing. We blamed it all on Milton last year, but there’s a reason why we looked so much more electric with Golesh. The OC develops the gameplan throughout the week. We no longer confuse DBs or do anything that made us electric in 2021 or 2022. It’s pathetic and needs to be addressed
Again, I have to ask what any OC is supposed to do when the OL can't get folks blocked? And let's not forget that our RBs didn't exactly shine in pass protection either. Just like our defense got into the heads of the OU staff and QB, Arky did much the same thing to us. Plus, it's clear we weren't interested in playing yesterday. Kind of a perfect storm which seems to happen every single year with UT on the road. Granted we still have all our goals ahead of us, but frankly, I don't think this team has the talent to do much more than 8 wins. Outside of UTEP and maybe MSU, I'm not seeing a "guaranteed" win on the schedule from this point forward.

The defense that gave up only 3 points in the first half, despite our offense only having about 30 yards?
That is a fair point, kiddiedoc. But the 3-0 halftime score was not an example of stellar defensive play. It was an example of a couple of things including Arkansas' willingness to chew the clock up and as you mentioned, the offense lackluster play. Arkansas chewed the clock up with excellent execution.

Got it figured out, don't you?

From what I heard the Arkansas QB is statistically not very good. Yet Petrino, with his play calling, put him in a position to succeed if he executed. He did. Crossing patterns, slants, middle screens, counter runs...all happening within 0-7 yards of the LOS. Saw none of that from CJH.
