In the days following our dominating performance over a decent Utah State team, SDS jumped on the Tennessee hype bandwagon and has continuously hyped up this team to be an SEC darkhorse in the articles below:

Now, an article posted less than an hour ago talks about how Tennessee fans have overreacted to the win with new, higher expectations:

What we're not overreacting to in the SEC after one game
"The Aggies are certainly not a terrible team, but for Tennessee fans to use that victory as a reason to believe the Vols could be a sleeper team in the SEC, shows just how down the program has been recently."

I've been annoyed by their inaccurate journalism as of late, but to say that it's us who are overreacting (I believe most of us on here still believe a 6-6 or 7-5 season) just really hit a nerve.

Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to put this out here to see what the rest of you thought.

They also stated in that darkhorse article when talking about Florida that Florida returns Driskell, the only team in the East to return a starting quarterback. WHAT???? Technically Justin Worley is a returning starter also. These writers are idiots.

Wasn't Mauk a starter? Or did Franklin finish the year as the starter?

The best way to show your displeasure is to not read their stuff.

The nature of my current job position allows for a lot of downtime throughout the day, so it's hard to stay away from everything football related. You're right, though. I'm pretty much done with that trash website.

This bro called them out. Thanks, unknown speaker of truth.

Perhaps you could be more like this guy, OP.

I think this UT team is hard to gauge. I mean did they play that good in the game or USU play that bad? I think if we manhandle AR St and stay close with OK we may change some minds.

Calling the SDS writers "journalists" is totally inaccurate. They are "columnists" at best. The most accurate way to describe them would be "bloggers."

They are a slightly more selective Bleacher Report. If you take them for what they are, you'll find that their opinions don't bug you as much.

I came to know SDS, and most sports commentary sites, in too many ways are as useless as tits on a boar hog for getting meaningful sports reporting. Don't read their crap and you won't get upset.

SDS is the worst. Whether they're speaking favorably of the Vols or not, it's all garbage. They write 50 articles a day, 7 days a week, and they are all essentially the same article. I used to follow them on Facebook, but I grew tired of my newsfeed being absolutely nothing but SDS articles all day every day.

Lol we aren't winning 7 games with this OL. Period.

Says the guy who made a fool out of himself insisting that USU would be trouble for UT....

This is still a 6-8 win team. This OL is STILL in better shape size and talent wise than the one Kiffin had or the first two that Dooley had. There is no comparison between the skill player talent and depth between any of those teams and this one.

Honestly that's not really negative. We should all be thrilled to win 6

I don't think thrilled is the right word. Six wins will be ok and we will have seen improvement but if you are thrilled with six wins as a vols fan then you must be a relatively new fan.

To be honest I don't see the big deal. The positive article was written by one writer, and the one that told us to 'reign it in' was by a different writer. So 2 guys writing for the same sports blog have different opinions. Nuttin to fret about.

Take a dose of your Negavol prescription you have in your avi dude. Utah State, Arky State, Chattanooga, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt....these are given wins with one down. We will win at least 2-3 out of Ole Miss, Mizzu, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia....especially as this team grows per game and plays with the intensity it did Sunday. Utah State was the X factor game for team 118 to go bowling this year.

Yeah. Your whole schtick is built around the various ways you think UT "sucks" and will fail.

If you are truly a UT fan... I can't understand why. I mean is your significant other really ugly too? Does your job/school "suck" in every conceivable way? Are all of your friends fatally flawed?

It isn't that you just have low expectations... It is that you won't even consider anything positive and exaggerate everything negative.

It's just cementing my belief that not many in the south understand the hurry up yet. They've been taken by surprise with it just like the NFL. Butch said as much last year. He specifically stated that not many folks understand the hurry up or spread in pressers last year. The south is coming to grips with the new hurry up tempo. I'll give you some examples.

!: Going to the JUCO's for talent. I have family in alabama that don't even know what JUCO stands for... they are honest to goodness college ball fans. I was on my way to florida during the bam a game and was at my brothers house. I almost got exiled from the family. Alabama is scared ya'll. They look exactly like the folks on the T.V. screen biting their nails during the west V game. They don't understand what's happening yet.

2: The hurry up and speed is all about wearing out your opponent. That mean getting rid of the ball fast. That means tossing it before there is a man open a lot of times. Those deep balls that look so inaccurate by worley are by design. A lot of folks don't understand that yet. You GO. That is all. just GO. get into a rhythm. If it's not there this time it will be a couple times during a game and it only takes once to break the game open. As long as you are getting rid of the ball fast enough the D can't do anything about it. You are making them run all over the field.

3: Slowing the tempo. In the hurry up... slowing down the tempo wears out the D. In traditional football speeding up the tempo wears out the d. Dinking and Dunking all those inside passes happens at specific times to keep the D on the field. It's all about wearing down the opponent.

I don't think the writers on SDS are necessarily "professionals". Even "columnist" would be too generous. I followed the links of one of their writers back to his Facebook page... he was just a guy... not a writer. Factual errors riddle the articles they post. There doesn't seem to be an editorial process.

If you get entertainment out of it then have at it however don't go there looking for "French models".
