Before I turn into a child I want to say how extremely excited I am about the progress this team is making. I am damn proud CM is our coach.

Now I am going to be that guy. The officials simply decided this game. Three instances that resulted in 6pts against us.

1) Boss shot a running air ball and rebounded the basketball. How the hell is that not a walk. They scored 2pts after that call with what could have been 3 after missing a FT.

2) There was a clear walk right at the 2min mark on the left wing. The player caught the ball and drug his pivot foot at least 2ft. Sidney score seconds later.

3) Finally the steal at the end. Miss state had 5team fouls while we had 10+ fouls. During the timeout I said this foul to give is a big factor. Boss picked TG clean because he could afford to gamble as a they had a foul to give. 2more pts.

I am sorry to be that guy but our kids fought their asses off and could have won a huge game and shame on those officials that didn't do their jobs..

Is this true?

Even if you in the act of a layup?

You can't catch your own air ball. It would be the same as passing it to yourself, which is traveling. If the ball is tipped then that is a different story. In this case, the ball was not tipped and clearly was a travel.

The airball pass was definitely a walk. It was a big momentum changer that took a little time to recover from.

#3 is 100% correct... I knew they'd play golden tight.... which is why I didn't like our chances... damn it would have been nice to at least get a shot up.

What hurt (to me)was the breakaway 3 on 1 when we threw the ball away. Just one TO that could have helped in the end.

No. That is considered a walk like it is at any other level. However, if the ref determines that the ball was tipped, then it is anyone's ball.

i think another point to be made: if Mcbee had any kind of ball handling skills, we have an easy layup on the steal at the end of the game to tie it up.

Golden would of made a better pass when it was 3 on 1 TN would of only been down by 2 and I think TN takes charge of them game and wins. One play can change the whole game.

GA, I love you man, but that's incorrect, unless you keep your pivot foot, or I missed sarcasm.

No he is correct. I'll find the link but the rule states that in high school and college if the airball is a legitimate shot and the referee rules that it was not an intentional pass to yourself than you can grab the ball. I think it's different in the NBA

No sarcasm involved.

I know it's counterintuitive, but go look it up. Once a shot is taken, it basically becomes a loose ball. The only league where it's illegal for the shooter to be the first one to touch an air ball is the NBA.

So many doubters . . . I should have taken bets on this. :)

It would have been a great idea. About a year ago, so many people that I was playing with said it was a travel so I had to look it up. I should have bet them because I proved about 10 of my friends wrong

I needed you around before I woke up all the neighbors with loud cursing when that call wasn't made. VN has taught me something today!

yes everyone ga is absolutely correct this is apparently completely legal in college. i thought this was also a travel so i looked it up in the ncaa basketball rulebook and they state it is not considered a travel as long as it is determined you were attempting a shot. in fact, you can pass, dribble or shoot once you catch the ball. to me this is a rule that needs to be changed and allows the player to absolutely bail themselves out of situation, just like bost did.

At the end of the game I thought we got away with a few we shouldn't have. Noticed a few missed calls but didn't see all you were seeing.

We made a solid charge at the end. That 3-1 breakaway was a huge blown opportunity. And the last play of the game was an unfortunate giveaway.

All in all I'm proud of the way this team hung in there.

I was most pleased to see us continue to go inside first rather than pull up a poorly chosen outside shot. Kudos to CCM for continuing to develop this team.
