$$ does not talk! Do you recall all of the candidates we reached out to when Pearl was fired? None of them were interested!!!!!

If you are a "Good" Up & Coming coach, you don't want to go Tennessee to have your career de railed.

If you are a proven "Good " Coach, then you will be selective in which program you choose to coach. which will not be at Tennessee.

Don't you think that we offered $$$ to coaches the last time we had an opening for a head coaching position????

We made an insulting offer to Shaka Smart according to sources.

I guess it could have, I just cant get over the fact that UT made this dumb ass of a hire.

That's all Hamilton did the whole time he was here was dumb a$$ firings & dumb a$$ hirings! I believe when CCM is gone so will all of Hamilton's hires... Thank God!

On a sunnier note, I believe if we had of been playing anyone in the conference last night except FL., we win the game.

Chris Mooney Head Coach Richmond

We tried and failed. Looking for a big payday.

John Thompson III Head Coach Georgetown
Not leaving GU...ever.

Jay Wright Head Coach Villinova
Lateral move at best. Being generous here.

Mark Turgeon Head Coach A & M
Not sure he's much better than CCM.

Gregg Marshall Head Coach Witchia State
We've passed twice for some reason.

Anthony Grant Head Coach "O Bama"
About to be fired at Bama.

Jamie Dixon Head Coach Pitt
Why is he leaving Pitt for Tennessee?

Brad Stevens Head Coach Butler
Head coach of Celtics, not Butler. Nuff said.

So of the attainable coaches, you have 3 career assistants, and a mid-major coach from that list. Wojo is the most appealing I guess. It would probably take $1.8 mil minimum to get him. We offered Zo, who had three years of HC experience and a conference reg. season championship, $1.3 mil three years ago. Would we pay a career assistant $1.8 mil? I'll believe it when I see it. I'd rather pay Howland or Frank $2 mil per year, but I have no faith in that either.

Until I see otherwise, I'll assume we will try to hire on the cheap and catch lightning in a bottle again (i.e. Pearl circa 2005).

Whoever we hire, he needs to be a very energetic coach with lots of charisma much like Butch and Pearl... the type of person to bring in rejuvenated excitement around the program. The MBB program is growing dull...

That may be another argument to go back after Pearl. If things are going to be that bleak, anyone they bring in other than some big name that we all know they likely won't get (or convince to come here), then at that point honestly I think Pearl is the only one they could name that people would overlook the fact we may really suck next year even with him.

What would be interesting to see if Pearl is brought back, if he doesn't give the program a boost and say in 4-5 years we're a middle of the pack program like now, how well he'll be cherished then.

Every time I read a post like this, I can't help but replace "What would be interesting" with "I really, really hope this will happen".

FINAL STRAW!!! When does the mediocrity go away? Its time to pull the plug on Cuonzo and staff. He wasn't the right hire from the very beginning and he certainly isn't getting anything positive done. Its time to give him the boot and go spend the right money and get the right coach for the job. The mediocre BS standard has got to stop.

Any thoughts on who will replace him....oh wait there are several other threads that discusses that hire.....or are is this your next thread.

The statement was hypothetical, apparently that had to be clarified for you

It didn't. You've just been betting people because you were so certain this is a tourney team. Found it very ironic that you're offering up names to replace Cuonzo. Thought you'd have been the last guy I'd see do that. That's all.

I still think this team sneaks in, does that bar me from any hypothetical coaching change discussions?

BTO, I admire your optimism. But do you think this team deserves to get in (not will they, but SHOULD they)? I honestly don't, unless they win out and enough happens with other teams to maintain an RPI under 50.

Nope, I think they go 4-2 down the stretch, and that won't be enough to get in.
