to get back in control of the BCS games.

as much hell as ESPN catches, their coverage of college football is second to none. the Fox package has sucked. from the pre game, to the announcers to the still stupid "let's listen to teh bands" spots.

even the interviews with the players......they had Colt McCoy stacking empty cardboard boxes last night? WTF?

Fox didn't even go on location for any of these games.

plus i hope ESPN does something about the dates these games are played.

there is no reason why that game last night should be played on MOnday night when most of the country has to go back to work on Tuesday morning.

bowls should be events. especially big BCS bowls.

the hype for last nights game sucked. as good as the game was, the event that should be the Fiesta Bowl sucked. i know they don't want to compete with the NFL and that stadium was used in a playoff game etc...but there's a better way than simply turnign that game in to alternative viewing for the Bachelor.

and definitely no reason the NC game should take place a full week after the rest of the bowls.

it'll be interesting to see what ESPN does when they get this thing back. I'm over Fox's college football experiment.

I've never a person make so many verbs out of words that aren't verbs.

you mean you doubt jimmy johnson's cred as a college football analyst?

eh.....no. but he's more suited, and much better at the NFL. if i'm choosing between the game day crew, or even college football live crew , and the one they put on last night, i'll take just about anything ESPN has to offer.

In my opinion Fox just bailed on this year's coverage because it is no longer their product...
maybe, and i heard they blamed the not being on location on the economy......but fox has sucked at this since they got the BCS deal.

the bcs bowls should be a culmination of the bowl season.

it doesn't have that feel to it at all.

don't forget the new guy on set for ESPN.....
you know i didn't think he was half bad. though it made me throw up a little in my mouth to see him and Holtz agreeing with each other and being so cordual with each other.......

but all in all, thought Fulmer did just fine with Reese, Mark and Lou.

wonder if he asked May about the "Fulmer is Spurrier's bi***" comment?

what bothers me is there is no excuse to push the national championship a full week past New Year's Day. I'm as big a college football fan as there is, but even I can't get all too excited about it. If anything remotely worth watching would have been on last night, I probably wouldn't have watched the Fiesta Bowl because I just don't care anymore.

Maybe part of it is because we are so much further along in the offseason than most teams, but there's no reason the BCS Title game should be any further than say Jan 4. Screw the NFL, go right up against them.

Anyone else think it's bizarre how ESPN used to bash on CPF and all things orange, then after he goes through the dismissal process they not only seem to feel sorry for the man defending him at times directly then hiring him? Don't get me wrong I'm glad the man has a job, I just think it's a definate flip-flop for an unknown reason.

fulmer knows less about football outside the sec than holtz. terrible hire.
maybe a bit unfair considering he did coach all season.....i doubt he really watched all that much of all these other teams over the course of the season.

my compliments for him really were just about his insight as a head coach in certain situations, and i thought he was very candid and a bit humorous about his experiences playing Bama and FLorida and Georgia when breaking down their bowl games.
wonder if he asked May about the "Fulmer is Spurrier's bi***" comment?
i doubt it, but it would be a whole lot cooler if he did.......on camera.

which proves that argument is atrocious. Even if you wait until the Saturday before Christmas, an eight team playoff would have been over with just two extra days.

anyone else think it's bizarre that people still try to use the ESPN bashes CPF and all things orange argument?

agreed, though i don't think anyone would suggest going against the NFL in ratings would be a good thing.....

no it wouldn't. but it's still a terrible idea.:p

i don't think ESPN bashed Fulmer per se.

I don't mean to insinuate they did it as a project like some do, but they have from time to time made comments that were disparaging.

in reality, it's probably not. but then again, the Vikings and Cardinals couldn't even sell out, so who knows.

Either way, the BCS could have had two games on New Year's Day and then two more Friday. Say 4 o'clock and 8:30 games. Then had the BCS Title Game last night. Instead, we're just waiting for three days with only Tulsa (ummm, whoooo) to fill in the void. It's ridiculous.

but they've done it to every team, even (gasp!), the real USC which so many claim they prop up too much.

They also bashed the fake USC and Notre Dame yet still hired Lou Holtz.
