I can't wait for ESPN......

in reality, it's probably not. but then again, the Vikings and Cardinals couldn't even sell out, so who knows.

Either way, the BCS could have had two games on New Year's Day and then two more Friday. Say 4 o'clock and 8:30 games. Then had the BCS Title Game last night. Instead, we're just waiting for three days with only Tulsa (ummm, whoooo) to fill in the void. It's ridiculous.
if we're voting, i'd vote for this.....we're on the same page.

these games need to be events again.......they're not right now........they have the feel of side shows.

I don't know how much more excitement you could muster by doing it the way I suggested. New Year's Day becomes relevant again and then college football takes a break for four NFL playoff games and then steals the show with their title game the next night. I guess it just makes too much sense to me.

it wouldn't be any more exciting , but you re capture what the bowls were supposed to be for the fans by having htem over the holidays......they become an event again.

last night wasn't an event. it was a monday night. i'm at work today. there was nothing special about last night's game.

the bowl season is a holiday event that lasts for 3 weeks that should culminate the last days of most people's holidays and vactions.

New Years Day should still be the culmination of the bowl season. with all the big match ups. the games you can't wait to see.

once NYD is over for me, hell i didn't even know when the Sugar bowl was on.

the BCS product right now sucks. it has to be part of the bowl season again.

Agree here that fox's coverage was bad. You can't just bring in people for like 4 games and act like they've been covering it all year.

I liked it when ABC had it and they used ESPN analyst. I worry though if this deal does give ESPN sole control over it.

Anyone else think it's bizarre how ESPN used to bash on CPF and all things orange, then after he goes through the dismissal process they not only seem to feel sorry for the man defending him at times directly then hiring him? Don't get me wrong I'm glad the man has a job, I just think it's a definate flip-flop for an unknown reason.

They manipulate sports media. The first case was them pushing to see a big coach fired and get a story. They don't control it directly, but they know that the more they show UT playing bad and the more they talk about how a coaching change is needed, the more the fans and boosters see it and are even more upset by the loss or bad game, and the more likely it is to happen (a firing that is) and give them a big firing story to talk about...they tried a similar thing about JoePa those two terrible seasons before that good one happened in 05.

They're espn and not only have the power to manipulate sports media but they do it often.

are you seriously suggesting that ESPN manipulated things so as to get Fulmer fired? or any coach fired for that matter?

I rather listen to Bob Davie and Bill Curry wax poetic about shuffleboard than watch another Fox BCS broadcast.

:) no.

I think though they do manipulate things to get stories though. Best example I can think of really are slow summers when they find a smaller story, grab onto it, and don't let go...like, sigh, the summer-long pacman watch

I think a better example would be they jab at stuff with a stick till something happens that would give them a later story...

. . . having about 7 or 8 Super Bowl and National Title rings sitting to his left doesn't hurt either.
for all the knowledge barry switzer has about football........i just can't stand to listen to him speak.

everytime he opens his mouth, all i can hear is "we did it our way baby! we did it our way!":ill_h4h:
