I too, am happy to have a coach WANTING to have orange blood. Unless I misunderstood, he declined another Hc gig before we offered. Jones is Brian Kelley the 2nd. Recruiting will be top tier, coaching acumen, and little baggage. Offensive guy with hurry up style and tough on the line. He said he will make sure our front 7 will be SEC competitive. He beat the great Charlie Strong. Defense avg < 8 ppg.

If he gets a good OC and a GREAT DC we will be back in year 3. SEC championships are no longer a dream, rather a reality. He is a closer on recruiting as long as we get a good recr coordinator.

Several people (reporters and alumni) keep going on about how he " looks" like a coach when speaking. This is important since CDD seemed more interesting in making ridiculous, albiet funny, analogies. CBJ also said we have the tools to compete next year. I don't know bout you but its beats the heck out ta year 0.

I think he is a home run hire. He is a 20 coach if we can agree that an SEC championship every 5 to 7 years is great. Too many great teams in this league to expect more.

People are so easily won over by a simple press conference. We'll see if they still love him come Feb when our recruiting class isn't even in the top 50 and we go 5-7 next year.

We have 5 to 6 million to get the best staff in the country and I think Jones is the right guy to lead them.

People, he's not a "great recruiter". His current class is 62nd. 6 3 stars and all the rest 2 stars. His history at recruiting sucks.

Our recruiting class was at #28 with Dooley. It's now #25 without a head coach as of yesterday.

You know not what you speak of.

If he wins he is.. if he doesnt he isn't. Pretty much that simple. Win and everybody falls in line.. lose and everybody goes ape****.

He was recruiting for Cincinnati ! You're comparing apples to oranges. I have a feeling he will do an excellent job recruiting here after watching his pressed. The key will be building a great staff. Keep Jay Graham and bring Tee Martin home. He is behind the 8 ball since the recruiting dead period starts in 9 days. However, I think he will get it done. The guy is a winner and that's what we have been missing.

He just won 2 Big East Championships , and to all the SEC "homers" he did this with Big East talent vs Big East talent . Winning with a roster of 4-5 start players from top to bottom takes a lot less coaching talent ! Look who the guy was mentored by: Brian Kelly, the coach from Cincinnati with the wide open offensive style . He then went to ND and adapted his coaching style to suit his players abilities , which is what Butch Jones stated in his press conference .8-10 wins his 3rd year here would be a phenominal job , keep it real ! The Vols are sitting in the bottom 3rd of the conference right now today so this is a complete rebuild so be patient ! Do you wonder why so many coaches said "no" because of the dillusions of a lot of the fan base ?

Looking at the past classes at Cincy on rivals, his recruiting is much better than what it was and better than Brian Kelly's.

I guess you guys are right. It was better than Kelley's. Kelley was 61st in his last year. Jones was 42, 34, and currently 62. That'll knock ol Saban off his high horse.

I'm just happy it's over and we can start moving forward. He sounded good in his press conference, but that does say much as Dooley gave good press conferences also.

However, I really like his overall approach and he sounds like a very genuine, straight from the hip kind of guy. He seems to have a lot of passion for not only Tennessee but football, and I never really got that from Dooley.

Also, while he hasn't shown he can recruit in the SEC he has shown he can coach up those recruits he does get. Let's face it, it's much easier to sell Tennessee and it's facilities, traditions, SEC to recruits than it is to sell Cincy.

You do realize he was recruiting for the Bearcats right? If not, best you just stopped watching football because you don't get it.

Wow, I guess you really are that slow...THEY WERE RECRUITING FOR CINCINNATI. Once Kelly moved to ND his classes ranked 14th in 2010, 10th in 2011, and 20th in 2012. You obviously don't get it so it might be time for you to move on.

And yet he was the Big East coach of the year in 2011 and 2012... And he tied for #1 in the Big East.

I fully support our coach, but I do want to see success. With the status of the program as I understand and within 3 years (4 maybe), I think that we should consecutive 8 wins seasons and consecutive top 12 recruiting classes.
