People are so easily won over by a simple press conference. We'll see if they still love him come Feb when our recruiting class isn't even in the top 50 and we go 5-7 next year.

I trust you will not try to get on the bandwagon if He wins over time.

People, he's not a "great recruiter". His current class is 62nd. 6 3 stars and all the rest 2 stars. His history at recruiting sucks.

If he can get great recruiters on the staff then we'll be fine. I think he know this. Let's see what he does. I was pissed off at first when I got the news. Let's see the staff he assembles. I STILL SAY DAVE HART AND JIMMY CHEEK NEED TO BE FIRED! THEY ARE FROM BAMA AND FLORIDA AS WELL AS PART OF THE INTERNAL PROBLEMS!

Hope you are right.
He walks into a mess just like Dooley did.
If our team shows progress every year, i`ll support him.
I don`t expect a National Championship in three years.

I too, am happy to have a coach WANTING to have orange blood. Unless I misunderstood, he declined another Hc gig before we offered. Jones is Brian Kelley the 2nd. Recruiting will be top tier, coaching acumen, and little baggage. Offensive guy with hurry up style and tough on the line. He said he will make sure our front 7 will be SEC competitive. He beat the great Charlie Strong. Defense avg < 8 ppg.

If he gets a good OC and a GREAT DC we will be back in year 3. SEC championships are no longer a dream, rather a reality. He is a closer on recruiting as long as we get a good recr coordinator.

Several people (reporters and alumni) keep going on about how he " looks" like a coach when speaking. This is important since CDD seemed more interesting in making ridiculous, albiet funny, analogies. CBJ also said we have the tools to compete next year. I don't know bout you but its beats the heck out ta year 0.

Jones had an offer from COLORADO,where coaches go to die. Let's face it,Jones was the only coach that wanted the job,and he lost to Dooley.

Wow, I guess you really are that slow...THEY WERE RECRUITING FOR CINCINNATI. Once Kelly moved to ND his classes ranked 14th in 2010, 10th in 2011, and 20th in 2012. You obviously don't get it so it might be time for you to move on.

@UTChicago I couldn't agree more with you... I say we back this coach and give him the support he needs! Last coaching search produced a coach from a mid-major with a losing record and now we get one from an AQ conference and a winning record. So what the f**** are people fussing about? If you really believed Gruden was gonna coach in college, then I apologized the good Lord gave you the short straw when it comes to intelligence.

He was recruiting for Cincinnati ! You're comparing apples to oranges. I have a feeling he will do an excellent job recruiting here after watching his pressed. The key will be building a great staff. Keep Jay Graham and bring Tee Martin home. He is behind the 8 ball since the recruiting dead period starts in 9 days. However, I think he will get it done. The guy is a winner and that's what we have been missing.

Graham++++, Martin????????

Well Its over finally. I can say at least this guy seems to want to be hear and understands tradition. I like the fact he welcomed all letterman to come back and help out anytime. So I hope Fuad heard this and gets in there and does what dooley wouldnt let him do and get our kicking game back up to par for Tennessee. Go Vols and Welcome to Rocky Top coach.

I agree with this. I dont wanna be an armchair QB but he couldnt win the Big East, how the hell is he gonna compete in the SEC. Id rather they had kept Dooley at least he had 3 yeras experience how tough the SEC is

Need I to remind the vols fan base that our last coach search produced a coach from a mid-major conference with a losing record. This guy comes from an AQ conference and has a winning record. So stop being negative and support this man and give him a shot. I'm sick of hearing about Gruden he has never won with his own men the super bowl he won was built with Tony Dungys team. The following yrs in Tampa Gruden went 7-9, then 5-11. So Gruden is good at what? Running a team into the ground? No thanks UT has already been driven into the ground! Lets Go Coach Jones!

I don't get this. For one, I was not "won over" with his presser. If the variables (coaches) are replaced with good recruiters and developmental skills, our class will be top 20 THIS year and improving going forward. 6-7 would be an improvement and is very do-able. His 2nd year may bring a top 12 recruiting class and 8-5 or better just because of his coach 'em up ability. Year 3 we may be playoff bound. A question for you "experts". Can you point out his weaknesses?
