I don't get the hype around Texas

When they start whining about not getting a bigger cut and try to bully people by throwing their weight around the SEC will realize the brand ain’t worth the bull.
What is Texas going to do to "throw" their weight around? What "weight" do they have? This is the SEC. the sec can turn around and cut them out. we were the best before texas, we will be the best with texas, we will be the best if texas leaves.

this isn't the Big 12. texas doesn't hold any sway here.

It was more of a reference to their egos than anything else. Sooner or later their agenda will show up it’s only a matter of when.

Texas's agenda and ego only matter when the math is in their favor. They weren't able to throw their weight around in the Big 12 just because. They brought in a very high % of the Big 12's revenue to the point where they could more or less dictate what happened.

Texas is not going to bring in an inordinate % of the SEC's revenue; they'll be a big fish in a pond with a bunch of other big fish. They won't run the show here, even if they think that they do. It's a numbers thing.

I agree 100% they will try something. I just don't see it going well for them. I kinda look forward to them trying it. It will be another adjustment for them.

I can't wait to see TX run up against the Bammers running the SEC offices.

TX is used to their threats leading to action. That ends when they get here.

They can threaten to walk all they want.

Texas may not be able to be Texas in the SEC, but they are already trying. Remember when they released their 2024 schedule ahead of the SEC's official release? The SEC should have smacked them down then and there when they did this- Prison House Rulez, biatches.

How should the SEC have punished Texas for the unforgivable crime of publishing their own schedule? I mean that's at least as criminal as jay walking. Should they have fined texas twenty million dollars? Suspended their AD? Kicked them out of the SEC?

Great reply, but I don't think you are really interested in my answers.
I am not a member of the SEC leadership, so I don't know what's possible. I do know that Texas was the only school that released their 2024 schedule ahead of the SEC releasing the schedule- that's a d*** move.

I just don't get complaining about it.
I don't see it as something morally wrong, I don't see it as something against the SEC rules, idk maybe it is, and then the punishment would be clear.
It didn't give them an advantage.
Sure they get to be the spoiled kid, but all complaining does is reward their actions. They want attention, and you are giving it to them.

I don't entirely get it, either.

One part of it is, they're Texas. Historic program. I mean, we benefitted from that as well, several years into our Dark Ages.

But another part, and perhaps the unexplainable part, is the sports media love for Sarkasian. Dude is like an even more doofus-y Lane Kiffin, and has kind of followed a similar career path complete with crashing and burning at USCw. And, as with Kiffin, the media types seem to cling to the belief that he's a future hall of fame coach on the verge of breaking into greatness.

Well, the media have mostly given up on Kiffin at this point. But they're still holding a torch for Texas Steve.

*shrug* Yeah, I don't get it either.

Go Vols!

Kiffin has a way more impressive resume than anything Sark has done. Kiffin has 4x 10 win seasons at three different schools. Sark has 0.

Their QB looked terrible half the time last year and they didn't seem very disciplined either. I wouldn't trade our QBs for theirs. Arch looks very overrated in his spring film, in my opinion. I think he got most of that 5 Star ranking from his name alone. I think we'd beat the stuffing out of them if we played them home or away this season.

They lost a lot of close games last year.. All 5 losses were by a TD or less. For a Freshman, Ewers played really good last year. He had 2 bad games( TCU & OK St) which is good for a FR QB. If he hadn't gotten hurt in the Ala game Texas would have beaten them. They did lose Bijon Robinson, but I'm guessing they probably have a bunch of good Rb's. They could and should win the Big 12 this year.

Bammers absolutely do not run the SEC office. Never understood why anyone thinks this, because it's just not true. Nobody in the SEC has any more juice than the other. If they did Saban wouldn't still be complaining about who's on their schedule and what offense's he doesn't approve of. I've rarely heard of him getting his way. If anything, he had more juice with the NCAA Office than the SEC. But not anymore with Mark Emmert stepping down. That was Saban's boy.

Oh no, such a horrible crime and act. Nobody, well almost nobody cares about that. I guarantee the SEC office wasn't sweating it. Not to mention , Texas is still in the Big 12 right now, even if the SEC wanted to do something there's zero that could be done. But it never came to that because the SEC office isn't that petty. It's their schedule, they can release or show it when they want.
