I feel better about our depth at some of the positions we were worried about heading into fall camp. I think the secondary as a whole is much improved over last years now that we have some answers at corner with Coleman, Sutton, Jones, and Foreman. The running backs was another position I was wondering about and I think we have four good ones with Neal, Lane, Hill, and Pickett. I also feel like we have four SEC caliber QBs with Worley, Peterman, Dobbs and Ferguson. I am still worried about receiver not about depth but just who is going to step up and make plays week in and week out. This is just my two cents and curious how the rest of volnation is feeling. GO VOLS!

While I don't think I'm as confident as you are, I do feel better about the potential of all the players because of better coaching. Sutton is a freshman and the last the time we saw Coleman he was getting torched. None of our QBs have done anything to be currently considered SEC caliber.

Not correct.

The really nice thing is that Coleman, Sutton, Jones, Foreman, Toney, Swafford, Randolph, and McNeil will be back next year. And we'll add Todd Kelly, Cortez McDowell, D'Andre Payne, and Rashaan Golden to the list.

At QB, they'll all be back next year, and they will be more experienced, more nuanced, more able to read defenses, and hopefully more accurate.

At Wide Receiver, they'll all be back next year, more experienced. And we'll add a couple of JUCO's to their number.

At TE, they'll all be back next year (except Ayres), and they'll be more experienced. And we'll add a couple of great freshmen to their number.

The offensive line situation in 2014, while not desirable, may not be as bad as I fear. Sounds like Pair is improving and Wiesman may be able to man a starting position next year.

The front seven on defense has me the most worried for next year (2014).

We will win one less game next year than this year. We will be very thin and inexperienced next year.

We will actually be as or more experienced at six positions and less experienced at four positions. We will be as or more experienced at QB, RB, TE, WR, CB, and S. Those other four positions (OL, DE, DT, and LB) are going to cause us some growing pains, though.

You may be right about winning one game less in 2014, but I would not say it's a given.

As a true freshman, Worley made plays against teams like Arkansas and South Carolina. He laid the ball right in Darick's hands in the end zone but it was dropped. He's a junior now; kinda ridiculous to say we have no reason to think he might be "considered SEC caliber." Has it got a hemi in it? You bout ta find out.

How was that not correct? Three of our quarterbacks haven't touched the field and the one that has played hasn't been impressive.

I have to agree. The excitement that I have for some of the newly arrived receivers (especially North) is somewhat stymied by the lack of confidence that I have in the QBs.

 Yep, we should be playing in the OVC this year for sure. Might be more than just 6-6 this year.

I never said our QBs couldn't be SEC caliber, I simply agreed with with someone that said none of our QBs have proven that they are currently SEC caliber QBs, which is fair. Now if you want to be that guy and say something like, "well if a player is a starting QB in the SEC than technically he is SEC caliber," then I can't help you.

I look at SEC caliber differently. Making some plays as a freshman and being 2 years older with about the same game experience is not what I consider SEC caliber. I compare to guys like Murray and Mccarron as SEC caliber.

Our offense looked horrible when he was starting in 2011. He was just a freshman and was playing great teams but we couldn't score worth anything. He could be a great QB for us this year, but from what we have seen from Worley to this point leaves me with a feeling of uncertainty.

So you think throwing a 180lb freshman QB out there against all the big dogs is a better idea? Worley is the better option RIGHT NOW

When did I say that?

I never said Worley won't be good and shouldn't start, I simply said that there is uncertainty because we have a lack of experience at the QB position.

RTTT,I believe his point is (like my own opinion) that Worley is uncertain based on the past. The 180lb Freshman you speak of is even more uncertain. Or, maybe I should say "more certain" ... to fail that is.

When you don't have a proven starter, or someone with considerably more game experience, it is hard to be optimistic. However, this isn't the first time. Too bad we couldn't find one in JUCO with experience with this offense.

One of the things that makes college football so interesting. All teams have to replace their key players eventually. So, we aren't in some new position wondering if the QB is going to be worth a crap.

While I do think the CBs will be better, we have to remeber many are young and inexperienced. While better days are certainly ahead, there will be some learning to do this year, and it's likely to be not so pretty on ocassion.

Murray and Mccarron are elite caliber, not just SEC caliber. I would level set your expectations for this year at least. How about Mettenberger (or however you spell it)?
