The Playoff Committee regularly leapfrogs a winning team with a lower ranked team with a more impressive win. Us playing 3 loser teams to end the season while the PAC contenders all play some top 15 teams almost guarantees the committee will leapfrog us with one of them. This weekend is huge. If TCU gets beat, TN moves up. If TN wins out then they aren’t going to drop a team from their ranking when they keep winning. This weekend can in my opinion help tremendously to settle things. Also OSU and UM are guaranteed to result in a lose to one of them at the very end. They won’t carry both of them to the playoffs.
so unless someone is suggesting that all the sudden one of the other schools will leap frog a winning TN team, and kick them out of the top 4, I think y’all are actively looking for a huge let down due to being a TN fan for too long.
I still hold strong that if Tn wins out then Tn is sitting good. 2 of the top 4 play each other in the last game of the season. One will drop below us in rank. And fingers crossed TCU will go down also, which will give TN another spot in the top 4 it can work with.
Now, if they all lose and TCU loses, sure, we’re in. But don’t think if everyone wins we get in because we’re 5th now and one of OSU/UM has to lose so we automatically move up is how the committee has traditionally operated.
