I Hate Beckham

I watched most of yesterday's match with Chelsea. Chelsea's second goal (denied due to a very close offsides call) was brilliant and a perfect example of the superiority of European football over the watered down MLS.

I've never been a big soccer fan, but I found myself in a position to watch most of last year's World Cup. I love listening to the crowd noise (of the Euro teams, the South American crowds are particularly annoying). Yesterday's match had a pretty good crowd, but they were typically SoCal.

Watching people give a guy a standing ovation for doing nothing I would say was the worst part for me. Soccer still horrible in the US, always will be.

please refrain from using football to describe the game third world countries play incessantly due to their broke nature. use football at your leisure to talk about soccer with the cosmopolitan / metrosexual set, but on the VolNation is dang near sacrilege

...and watching ESPN show the two Beckham highlights about 20 times right after the game: of him simply kicking the ball 35 yards and getting owned and laying on the field like a big puss. And my buddy tried to argue with me that Beckham is actually truely relevant in the soccer world, which he isn't. He's in America because of his good looks and frowny wife, not soccer abilities, otherwise he'd play in a legitimate league.

Agree with you Dude. I can only see this ending miserably. He'll make plenty of money but after a while it will eat away at a guy use to playing in front of the great crowds against great competition. I would think being the posterboy of a league and playing in front of empty stadiums will be a bit deflating.

Come on guys... I think I deserve some credit for calling Mary-Kate Olsen a porker and comparing Victoria Beckham to an extra in Schindler's List, back to back.

BTW, I'd hit it with a protein shake and a double quarter pounder.

You think your funny? You think you deserve credit? Tell that to the SIX MILLION graves of innocent Jews slaughtered by the Nazi’s. You sound like Mike Vick! Come on Milo, I liked you; you were a west coast guy. What happened to you? Out in Cali we do not find idiotic comparisons of the worst crime ever against humanity funny. You disappoint me! Find some perspective!

Sorry for being harsh Milo, for I suspect you know not what you type. Making light of such a painful issue is wrong but I forgive you, if you feel bad for what you did. Well, do you?

Ok Milo, I am headed off to bed. I await your response, tomorrow I guess. A thought for you though would be the fact that your new avatar is that of a Jew and yet you make such comments.

You need to get over yourself, lighten up and try to get a sense of humor.

It wasn't close. Drogba was definitely offsides...

That could have very easily been a 1-1 draw if Cech hadn't made one amazing save, or if Landon had gotten his header on goal...

You also have to realize that Chelsea is one of the top 5 or so clubs in the world, and the Galaxy are 10th out of 13 in the MLS. Not exactly an even matchup.

That is what makes soccer so bad. One of the best clubs in the world plays what amounts to a AA team and beats them 1-0.

What I hate about soccer is if a team gets a 1 or 2-0 lead early there is zero action the ENTIRE rest of the game because they are playing defense.

american football is the greatest sport in the world.

i want u guys to post pics of ur girlfriends because yall sure do seem picky

Well, not all guys like toothpicks.. I can't fault them for that. I don't see where it looks all that much better than some of the pictures people post of overweight girls. Everyone gets a good laugh out of that... and I seriously doubt you would be calling people picky if the girls in question were fat instead of rail thin.

Shut up Seth. Please, shut up.
