In 1985, as a 13 year old kid my parents wanted to take a drive to the Smokies to see the fall colors. I wanted to stay home and watch the Tennessee-Bama game. The only colors I wanted to see were orange and crimson. Sadly, I went along and my dad, although not a big sports fan at the time, let me listen to the entire game on the radio as we drove across the mountain. The colors were at their peak, and the sun was shining brightly. As we crossed the Smokies and entered Gatlinburg, Dale Jones made an improbable interception to seal the 16-14 win. Even though I wasn't watching at home, I felt like I was there. The colors, the weather, hearing the UT section going nuts in the background, and of course John Ward, made it one of my best UT football memories. After that one game, and my dad seeing tears in my eyes from being so excited, it instantly turned him into a football fan. The Florida game is big every year, but it will never compare to the Alabama game in my eyes.
